  8. Slow start from the championspublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 1 October 2017

Real Madrid v Espanyol (19:45 BST)

After winning La Liga and the Champions League last season, and thrashing Barcelona 5-1 on aggregate in the Spanish Super Cup, another dominant season looked on the cards.

But three wins from six - by Real's standards - is a poor start and they will go into the second international break of the season in fifth place, at best.

It's been a strange day in Spain (and Catalonia).

Earlier today, Barcelona's 3-0 win against Las Palmas was played behind closed doors as the club protested La Liga's decision not to postpone the game.

That was after at least 460 people were injured as police used force to try to prevent voting in Catalonia's independence referendum.

But let's hope it's a lot more straightforward at the Bernabeu as another Catalan team - Espanyol - visit champions Real Madrid.
