Lys Mousset heads in for Bournemouth from a free-kick, but looks across to the linesman who has his flag up for offside.

    Chalked off.

    Leicester 0-0 Leeds

The League Cup often gets a kicking, but it is a 32,500 sell-out at the King Power Stadium this Tuesday evening.

This has been helped by Leicester offering tickets as low as £3 for young children and some adult tickets for a tenner.

Not much for the home fans to get excited about so far though. Nor for the away fans. Plenty of possession for both sides, but it is all around the halfway line.

That was a decent chance for Chris Smalling, but I can't believe that Swansea have got Sam Clucas marking him.

    That is just a mismatch.

  6. CLOSE!published at 19:48 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

    Swansea 0-0 Man Utd

United get an early corner at the Liberty Stadium which is swung in by Marcus Rashford.

Skipper for the night Chris Smalling is the man to get his head onto it, but directs his effort off target.

    Should have done better there.

Swansea manager Paul Clement: "Whatever team Manchester United put out, it is going to be a challenge.

"We have to keep the game tight. The last time we played them here it was tight for 70 minutes before the game opened up and we need to make sure that does not happen again tonight."

Swansea conceded three goals in the final 10 minutes of August's Premier League meeting to lose 4-0.

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells Sky Sports: "Everybody was upset after the Huddersfield match and that is the perfect reaction to such a bad defeat. The next match is another match and you have to try and not commit the same mistakes.

"The mistakes was attitude and our approach to the game. I am expecting the team to give a good answer, we made a lot of changes in the team and it is a good opportunity for the two young kids (Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay)."

Bournemouth have only reached the quarter-finals of the competition once before but opponents Middlesbrough have history.

A Boro side containing Juninho, Boudewijn Zenden and Gaizka Mendieta, skippered by current England boss Gareth Southgate beat Bolton in the 2004 final.

By the way, that Trotters side had Jay-Jay Okocha, Youri Djorkaeff, Ivan Campo and Bruno N'Gotty playing for them.

    Great times.

"Jose Mourinho is a winner, he hates losing and he has questioned his players' intergrity in the wake of their defeat away to Huddersfield at the weekend. We saw the players down tools under him at Chelsea, how United react tonight will be telling as to how that criticism has gone down in the dressing room."

Football management can be a lonely job, particularly if your team is bottom of the league having lost 8 out of 9 games, and Roy Hodgson's task tonight is to pick a team to try and beat a Bristol City side who've made an excellent start to the season in the Championship despite a 3-0 loss at home to Leeds on Saturday.

He's probably also admiring the scenery here because this is now a very impressive stadium. I used to be a regular at Ashton Gate when working for BBC Radio Bristol in the late 90s and we used to commentate in a narrow, cramped press box, behind glass, with a slightly restricted view of the action. Now we're high above the halfway line in the 11,000 seater Lansdown Stand and if you look away to your left you can see the magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge lit up by twinkling lights.

The next step of course is to try and bring top-flight football here but tonight it's all about knocking a Premier League team out of the League Cup for the third round in a row.

You don't need a football expert like me to tell you, but this is where the biggest shock of the night could come.

Bottom of the Premier League v seventh in the Championship.

Lee Johnson's side have already beaten two top-flight clubs - Watford and Stoke - on their run to the fourth round. The last team to achieve three were Bradford in 2012-13.

  16. Leicester to accept Silva decision?published at 19:24 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

Calling all school/college/uni students. Pay attention. This story is for you...

Leicester City will not appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against Fifa's decision to reject Adrien Silva's registration.

Fifa made the ruling after paperwork on 28-year-old Silva's £22m move from Sporting Lisbon was 14 seconds too late on the 31 August deadline day.

Leicester wanted to go to CAS but said "Fifa will not support an expedited process".

Silva can only start playing for them when January's transfer window opens.

    Leicester v Leeds (19:45 BST)

When Leicester won this competition in 2000, little did they know that the buzz of winning that trophy would pale into insignificance 16 years later.

But Claudio Ranieri was given the chop just months after that sensational Premier League triumph and Craig Shakespeare was sent packing too. Michael Appleton has been handed the reigns on a temporary basis.

A managerial merry go round that Leeds would be proud of.

But have the West Yorkshire side turned a corner? Current boss Thomas Christiansen has restored the faith and the fans are looking up rather down for the first time in a long time.

These two teams last met in the League Cup in 2001, when Robbie Keane netted a hat-trick as Leeds thrashed Leicester 6-0 at Filbert Street.

  18. A record-breaking day?published at 19:18 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

Man City v Wolves (20:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Pep Guardiola's side are turning it on this season.

Manchester City have swept all before them so far but so have Championship leaders Wolves.

A win for the Premier League outfit will make it a club-record 12 wins on the trot in all competitions.

And striker Sergio Aguero equalled Eric Brook's all-time goal tally for the club. Is this the day when the Argentine puts his name top of the list?

  19. Team newspublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 24 October 2017
