    Oof.

It has been all Australia, but goalscorer Omar Al Somah gets a sniff at goal, but drags his shot wide from a similar position to where he scored from in the first half.

By the way, I missed a referee substitution on 90 minutes.

The Uzbek referee who started the game picked up an injury and was replaced by the fourth official.

His first act was to blow the whistle to begin extra time, his second was to send off a Syria player.

Meanwhile, we have a break in play as Syria player Jehad Al Baour gets treatment from the physio after a knock to the head.

My Shane Warne impersonator on comms is not happy.

"How is this acceptable? It is the slowest walk-off in history," he screams.

Syrian state TV broadcasting has been dominated with coverage of the country's 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Australia in Sydney.

It aired special programming with live footage of huge crowds in Damascus's Umayyad Square, Aleppo, Homs and Sweida in the morning of 10 October.

To capture celebrations in Aleppo, the TV went to Shadi Helweh, usually the channel's war correspondent, who famously covered the landmark recapture of the city by government forces in December 2016.

"The goal has taken us back to a year ago, when the Syrian army liberated the city of Aleppo. Look at these crowds," Helweh shouted exuberantly.

"All the streets of Aleppo are full. I wish we'd had more live TV crews around Aleppo so we could show you all the streets and the hundreds - I'm telling you, hundreds of thousands - of Aleppo residents who have turned out across the city. This happiness is for all of Syria, not just Aleppo,” he said.

Australia nearly win it late on.

It is brilliant play by the Socceroos, patiently working the ball.

Nikita Rukavytsa picks out Tom Rogic on the edge of the box, but the Celtic player's goalbound drive is booted off the line by Syrian centre-back Zaher Al Midani.
