Things have been slow after the break and have been slowed down even further while Cardiff's Joe Bennett receives treatment after a knock.

    He's fine to carry on.

    Nottingham Forest 0-2 Cardiff City

Cardiff are understandably playing things at their own pace, slowing things down and sucking the life out of the hosts.

Forest cannot unlock the Bluebirds' defence and are not having as much possession as they did in the first period either.

It's cold, miserable, gloomy and not a lot of fun for the home fans.

    Cardiff's supporters couldn't be happier.

Daryl Murphy has had Forest's best chance so far, firing a great opportunity over. But the big striker has generally been well shackled by Sean Morrison.

Cardiff have been very sound defensively.

Armand Traore loses possession in his own half and is lucky to get away with it. Forest regain the ball and do play it long for a change.

Eric Lichaj wins a corner, which comes to nothing.

    Nottingham Forest 0-2 Cardiff City

Forest still looking to play from the back. Mark Warburton has his style of play, he believes in it and sticks to it.

But the increasingly heavy rain may make that very tough - especially as they are chasing the game against a Cardiff side, who are dropping deep, and protecting what they have.

    Nottingham Forest 0-2 Cardiff City

Cardiff will be back to within four points of Championship leaders Wolves if they see this through.

If they do it is likely to be a victory you can file under ruthlessly efficient.

No changes at the break by the way.

We are up and running again. Mark Warburton will need things to change quickly if Nottingham Forest are to make it five home wins in a row.

The rain is teeming down at the City Ground.

Former Forest and England midfielder Steve Hodge reckons the home side can still get something from this. Cardiff have been organised and dangerous from both set-pieces and on the break, but it's been pretty even for the most part.

    Quote Message

When Forest have the ball Cardiff press hard. Forest have been patient and tried to probe their way into the game. Forest will feel a little bit hard done by. I wouldn't say the game's done from Forest's point of view at all. Things can turn quickly.

There's been very little in this. But Cardiff's clinical finishing is the difference. Junior Hoilett's simple header from a free-kick put the Welsh side ahead and a stunning strike by Danny Ward made it 2-0.

Forest feel hard done by because a strong penalty shout for handball was ignored. But they are by no means being outclassed.

There will be two minutes of additional time. Can Forest get one back before the break?

Forest still trying to play their football and probe and create chances.

Some decent passing ends with Kieran Dowell hoping to catch out Cardiff keeper Neil Etheridge with an early strike, but the effort goes wide.

Armand Traore could have made things a whole lot worse for Forest there. He gets a very stern talking to after another late challenge.

Had he been booked for a second time this afternoon then the Reds would be trailing 2-0 and a man down.

    Danny Ward

A stunning strike from Danny Ward and that's a massive blow for Forest, who thought they should have had a penalty moments earlier.

Ward gets possession after a decent header by Callum Paterson and smacks a 20-yard curler past Jordan Smith.

A beauty and Cardiff are well in control now.

A huge shout for a Forest penalty.

It looked pretty clear. Armand Traore's cross is blocked by the arm of Bruno Ecuele Manga, but the Cardiff man gets away with it.

Now Forest manage to win a corner of their own.

Tyler Walker wins it and Michael Mancienne is so close to connecting with the ball.

Cardiff whack it clear, but the pressure comes straight back. The Reds are trying to up the tempo.

This man has good reason to be happy.

Neil Warnock has won both his matches against Forest as Cardiff boss and is on course to make it three in a row.

Cardiff have another set-piece to test Forest. Junior Holiett swings in a corner, but it goes behind for a goal kick.

Forest's Daryl Murphy really should have done better there. He skies a great chance over the bar after great work by Barrie McKay.

It all came after some sloppy defending by Sol Bamba. It should be 1-1.

How will Forest respond to this?

The Cardiff gameplan is already seeming sound. They appeared happy to play on the break and look to set-pieces. A few long throws threatened before the goal from a long free-kick.

    Junior Hoilett

Simplicity from Cardiff. A free-kick is played into the box, Sean Morrison wins the first header and Junior Hoilett is on hand to nod in from close range.
