Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton to Match of the Day: "We were always going to be up against it here, with the quality they've got. We went behind to a very fortuitous goal and then we had really good periods in the second half. When you're a side like us the chances are going to be minimal, you've got to defend well and I thought for large parts of the game we did that. We've gone down to a poor goal from our point of view. What the lad will say, whether he meant it or not? From our side it looks like a cross that's gone in at the far post."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "I think it's fantastic for us, three victories in a row - so important for us. I'm happy with the performance.

(on Aurier's goal) "I think he tried to put the ball in there and I think it's fantastic, sometimes you need some luck to score. The team deserved it, we dominated the game. We deserved to go to half time winning the game, (the win was important to) believe and fight for the Premier League. We created a lot of chances, it's not easy to play when the opponent play in that formation to try only to stop you to play."

Southampton

Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino said: "Really bad game from the beginning to the end. After conceding the first goal they were getting better and little by little our confidence went down. We gave the ball away all the time.

"For me it is a bit about concentration, not being 100 per cent focus and at this level you cannot be on the pitching giving this advantage. It was an awful day and that is the reality.

"In the Premier League there are a group of teams where the gap is four or five points and we have to fight. Obviously we have the same feelings as the supporters. Three days before we played a good game but in football in three days everything changes. We need to react now."

Everton boss Sam Allardyce: "From my point of view what happened way back nearly 10 years ago is long gone, what matters to me is Everton.

"After a difficult game on Sunday did the lads have the legs? Their determination and drive has given us the opportunity to win a game 1-0. I'm a little baffled at how Everton conceded so many goals before I got here.

"We're up to 22 points so we're pushing our way into the top half and it all comes from a good solid defensive base.

"The Christmas party is postponed. There won't be anything near enjoying themselves until after the cup on 5 January."

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez:"The way we played and chances we had it was unbelievable to be losing 1-0 at half time. We made a mistake. In the second half its difficult to manage. Everton were just wasting time, maybe long balls that could catch us in a bad position.

"In this case Jonjo Shelvey's red card is different (from his one on the opening day of the season) but still it is a red card. We maybe lose him for a couple of games.

On when he needs to know his transfer budget: "As soon as possible but I don't know when. We have the money from the summer window - I think we have some money but I need to know how much."

Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger speaking to Match of the Day: "We had so much of the ball, but it was very frustrating because we could even have lost it at the end. They're happy to defend, they did that against Chelsea and Manchester City, so we couldn't find the opening and the few chances we had we missed.

"I can't fault the effort of the team but West Ham were very good in defence tonight.

"There's always concern [about the table] as we are here to win games. Chelsea came here and lost and we had one day less to prepare.

"When you play every three days, you lose your sharpness."

On Jack Wilshere's return to the side: "He played well and created many movements forward in the first half. He needs regular football and I've said that many times. He's been patient and he's been rewarded. What he did tonight is positive"

Seth Gogo Egoeh: A very poor performance from Man Utd tonight but the 3 points is the most important thing after that humiliating loss to Man City. Mourinho has work to do.

Stewie A: Pardew doing what he does best. Earning points by completely nullifying the opposition.

Craig Smith: No injuries to blame this season. Simply just not good enough to break down another stubborn defence from #Arsenal. Fragile in defence, lack of creativity and urgency in attack, despite strong squad. Tactics need addressing and soon!

West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes speaking on Match of the Day: "It was another difficult game, we've played Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal. I have to give the players great credit for defending well and being resolute.

"[The winner] would have been greedy. But if you've seen what the players have done over the last couple of weeks, their work deserved that.

"There's a good spirit at the moment. They're all at it together at the moment. I want them to be more robust and we're still a bit easy to play against. We're trying to improve that and we want to make our football better. There's a lot to improve but the first thing was to stop conceding goals.

"Now we play teams that people would expect us to beat so we have to open up and put pressure on.

"I'm really enjoying it here. The players, the training, and the supporters have been great, even though I'd heard bad things. Because of that it makes it a lot easier for the manager."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe speaking to Match of the Day:

I’m very disappointed, I thought we were excellent. We created opportunities, our defensive shape was very good and we deserved a lot more today.

We worked De Gea a lot in the first half but I am disappointed with the goal we conceded, we kept going, ended the game strongly but it wasn’t to be.

This was a big test mentally, we came with a game plan and they delivered that. The frustration is they don’t get the reward of a win.

Bournemouth’s next three games are against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City:

It’s a tough schedule, but we are getting the performances and we will go again.

Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reaction, talking to BBC Match of the Day:

I am pleased with the three points, it was difficult match. They had one more day’s rest than us, they were fresher than us, and mentally fresher because a big match takes more from our players.

We had chances, Martial missed a good chance, Rashford could have had an astonishing effort, and in the last 15 they pushed us.

Was there a hangover from the derby?

Fatigue, yes, but hangover - no. The game was a big one, and a defeat does not help in your recovery - victories help, defeats don’t. They were difficult opponents and difficult conditions. If we had scored the second it would have been a calm night for us.

Luke Shaw – now first choice?

I’m not saying first or second choice, he’s an option. His history is an incredible injury and more surgery at the end of last season. He needs competitive matches, we gave him that and he had some cramps so we had to change him. The standing ovation for him I liked, it helps the player.

Is the title race over?

I said we play match after match and the next we have to try to win, we have a difficult one at West Brom and we try match after match. It is only over in May, if it is over now I go on holiday to Brazil or Los Angeles.

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on the Reds' disallowed goal: "It is twice deflected and I am still not sure.It is for sure chest and then I am not sure if handball. We cannot take the decision back so all good, it is like this.

"First half we were a little bit stiff, the passing and movement was not so good but even then we had two or three chances. The second half we changed the system two or three times. It was difficult but I think only one time Loris Karius had to make a save - an important one.

"We can do better and we have to do better but on a night like this when you are not at your best you need a bit of luck.

"That was not our best game tonight but I think we had enough chances to win. We didn't use them and we have to accept the result."

West Brom boss Alan Pardew, speaking to Match of the Day: "We were so disappointed to lose at Swansea, we didn't think we deserved to, but you have to earn your right and we were excellent in all aspects of our defending today.

"We are growing with defensive confidence. It is looking a little bit brighter tonight."

On Liverpool's disallowed goal: "I thought it was goal until I saw the linesman not move. That's always a good sign. It is a good call by the linesman because it is handball."

Leicester City

Leicester striker Shinji Okazaki, who scored twice, said: "Every member of the team is important. Today was an important game and we had a good game. The manager has changed a little bit but not everything. Our spirit has not changed, but we have confidence and we have a good way with the manager."

Leicester defender Harry Maguire said: "It is hard to put a finger on it but confidence is great. We take that into Saturday now. When Claude came in we were struggling to score goals but now we are finding the net. We create chances and score goals. The confidence is flowing through the team."

Leicester City

Leicester boss Claude Puel said: "The result is the result. It is a good feeling to come back here. It was nice to see familiar faces when I came back here. I have a lot of friends. I appreciated the staff and players. My team is the most important thing. I am proud of my players because we gave a fantastic game. It was important to maintain the performance and it was a good result at half-time but we came back again.

"The first goal away was important and it was a good game. I think Southampton are a good team with a good players and they deserved results against Manchester and Arsenal. It is a good result for us and now it's important to continue this. I think it was important to make changes and give time to players like Shinji Okazaki. it is good to see other possibilities with changes.

"If we have to ability to maintain the good results with changes it will be good for the future. It is still the first part of the season and the Premier League is difficult every week. All is not perfect, we still need to correct things and make progress. Since the beginning my players enjoy their game and make the fans happy which is the important thing."
