  2. Why Southgate should use young playerspublished at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC Match of the Day

When people talk about having the experience of tournament football, yes it's about being away from home, learning what to do, the culture, how you react with that.

I think you have to use the young players. It's an incentive for them to do well because if you've just won a tournament and then you're not playing, you've got to think there's something not right here.

Matt Birtwistle: as an expat in Brazil (moved here after falling in love with the country during the world cup in 2014 visiting with the england supporters club) I am praying for England v Brazil or England v Argentina in the groups

  4. Legends in the buildingpublished at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

Here come the legends who will be assisting the draw. First up, Gordon Banks!

Don't ask him about Joe Hart.

  5. England's 'golden generation' in South Africapublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Tim Vickery
BBC Sport South American football expert

There's a key moment in the perception of the England team - both here and abroad - which was the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.

Everything seemed to be in their favour - a coach with the calibre of Capello, the golden generation and still it was very, very poor indeed.

  6. Steve's done his researchpublished at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

I'm hoping for England to get one of positions B2, D3, G3, G4. That way all matches will be evenings and weekends!

  7. Running late?published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

We are still balleting on stage in Moscow, by my reckoning the draw should have started by now.

  8. English fans? Realistic?published at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC Match of the Day

Being realistic, in England we don't expect them to go from being terrible to world beaters. But we expect improvement.

Rhys Benjamin: These are the same hosts as #Eurovision 2009. Do Russia have no one else?

  12. England need a big hitterpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC Match of the Day

Over the years we've looked at whether it's a good draw, a bad draw, a group of death. Forget all that. We've gone into a tournament in good form and then we've disappointed.

If you get a big hitter in the group, you can look forward to that. England play better against the bigger teams.

  13. Klose on stagepublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

Here's Miroslav Klose, top scorer in the history of the World Cup, on stage holding the trophy.

    He's now retired.

"It's a wonderful trophy," he says. "It evokes so many emotional moments."

  14. 'Distance makes no difference'published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

Teams will be travelling in the best jets and coaches - I don't think distance makes such a big difference.

Nuno Bettencourt - shredder from Extreme back in the day - is on stage playing a pop ballad as a boy performs kick-ups and backflips.

World Cup fever goes up a notch.

  16. Did England help Brazil?published at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Tim Vickery
BBC Sport South American football expert

The 0-0 draw against England recently did Brazil the world of good. It brought them down to earth. It's reinforced the point that the big challenge comes against the western Europeans.

The stats don't lie. Five of the last six finalists have been western European.

Roberto Martinez is well placed in the middle of the theatre - who would have thought that when he was sacked by Everton?

30 of the 32 national teams' managers are in attendance. Only Australia (no boss) and Uruguay haven't made it.

Joshua Milton: Let's be honest there is no good draw here for England. It's littered with big names, previous nightmares and nations desperate to add their name to that second group.

    That's the spirit...
