No goals to talk about so far inside the opening 15 minutes at Loftus Road.

Former QPR boss Neil Warnock is back at Loftus Road once again this afternoon.

But he arrives with his promotion-chasing Cardiff side enduring a run of three straight losses, which has seen them lose ground on their rivals.

QPR - situated five points above the relegation places - are bidding for a first home win since October.

  17. Pulis' men head to Prestonpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Tony PulisImage source, PA

New Boro boss Tony Pulis' first game in charge at the Riverside didn't entirely go to plan, as they lost 1-0 to an improved Aston Villa.

What he'd want today then is a nice three-point banker, to get off the ground, right?

So, not an away trip to Preston - a side who are unbeaten in nine games...

This is eighth v ninth in the Championship and it should be fascinating.

Five wins out of six made the last month of 2017 a very sweet one for Gary Rowett and Derby County fans.

The Rams climbed up to second following victory at Ipswich on Saturday and Bristol City's agonising late defeat at the hands of leaders Wolves.

This afternoon they kick off 2018 with the visit of Sheffield United, who themselves will be hoping the New Year brings them renewed energy for their own automatic promotion hopes.

The Blades were second themselves as recently as mid-November, but just one win their past eight matches has cut Chris Wilder's men down to sixth.

Right then - not long to go now until kick-off, so let's tee up some of the games to look out for in the Championship....

Life after Mark Warburton for Nottingham Forest begins at Elland Road this afternoon.

Fifth-placed Leeds will be the first test for caretaker manager Gary Brazil and the hosts will be keen to right the wrongs of their surprise defeat by Birmingham City on Saturday.

Before that loss against the Blues, Leeds had won four in a row and gone unbeaten in six to put themselves back in the promotion shake-up at the turn of the year.

Forest, as has already been mentioned, are without a win in four and last won on their travels at the end of October.
