Dons still on the attack. Anthony Considine whips a ball in from the left, but it's a bit too swift for Adam Rooney, who can only direct it well wide of the left post.

Aberdeen forward Scott Wright plays a ball forward to...absolutely no-one. Wright gestures to Stevie May that he should have been running into the inside-left channel, but you wonder why Wright didn't just run with the ball himself.

Underwhelming from the Dons so far. Stevie May wins a corner on the right. Greg Stewart takes it, fails to get it beyond the first defender, and when it comes back to him, Stewart is adjudged to be offside. More groans from the home fans.

Aberdeen's frustration with the way proceedings are going is starting to show. Kenny McLean is fortunate to escape a booking after flying into a tackle and leaving Rangers midfielder Jason Holt on the deck.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes emphasises that he is ignoring the speculation linking him with Rangers.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: “It’s just the length of time it’s gone on for me, there’s a lot of things I’m not happy with, but the biggest thing I’m not happy with was the result on Wednesday night. It’s all about today. My focus is on the football and hopefully we can show that today.

“It’s clear that there has to be a response, we fell way below the standards we’ve set at the club over the past few years.

“We had two tough away games and it was two contrasting performances. We played well at Kilmarnock and that set us up nicely for Wednesday. I thought Rangers showed a better appetite to run and work and do the dirty side of the game better than us in the early part. It stresses the importance of the start.

“I would like to try to get at them a bit more in the wider areas and pin their full-backs in. It is important that we’re compact in the game and deny their better players the influence they had on Wednesday. We want to show a different side to us."
