Liverpool are flying, they're firing, and most will expect them to win and be second on Saturday night.

Most - but certainly not West Ham boss David Moyes.

    I reckon he'll fancy this.

Former West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "Liverpool are so fascinating to watch.

"They still need to plug holes in the defence to be taken seriously.

"It's going to be a tough game for West Ham. I think they are going to be very nervous about this game."

Winter break or no winter break in the Premier League?

While the debate continues to rage and the 'Beast from the East' edges closer, both Liverpool and West Ham return to action after enforced breaks due to early exits from the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp's side have not played since the St Valentine's Day massacre of Porto in the Champions League.

West Ham's players have been game-free even longer. Their last match was on 10 February - that's two weeks.

Whilst Liverpool have mainly trained in Spain during their gap between games, West Ham have stayed at their Rush Green training HQ.

    Marbella or east London….hmm?

Not that you can question David Moyes' decisions for West Ham so far.

He's not only tightened things defensively, but they're flowing up front too. It's no coincidence that their little wobble at the turn of last month came whilst in-form Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini were missing.

Who will score Liverpool's 100th competitive goal of the season?

Sadio Mane? Roberto Firmino? Mohamed Salah? All three start at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp makes three changes to the side that hammered Porto 5-0 in the Champions League last time out - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Emre Can and Joel Matip in for Dejan Lovren, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.

    James Milner captains the side.

Liverpool XI: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Can, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Salah.

  7. Liverpool to go second?published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

In an ideal world, Jurgen Klopp would hope to be spending this weekend at Wembley contesting the first major trophy of the season.

Instead he finds himself at Anfield pitting his wits against David Moyes, Liverpool's Carabao Cup dream over before it really started in September.

They've since bowed out of the FA Cup yet beat West Ham and they'll leapfrog Manchester United into second spot in the table.
