    Barcelona 1-1 Girona

I've seen whole games with less action than this.

Ousmane Dembele breaks into the box, he tries to step around a couple of defenders but they hold him off.

Now Lionel Messi plays another ball over the top to Jordi Alba, who attempts to chest the ball across goal for Luis Suarez but Bono holds onto it.

  2. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Barcelona 1-1 Girona

Lionel Messi steps up to take the free-kick, it's bouncing towards the bottom corner but Bono can tip it around the post.

    Barcelona 1-1 Girona

Another Girona shot, this time Alex Granell fires well over from long range. Now Barca have a free-kick as Lionel Messi is caught.

  4. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Barcelona 1-1 Girona

Is this a game of basketball? Girona have a chance again but Anthony Lozano rushes to get a volley away and it's well over the bar.

  5. goal

    Luis Suarez

That didn't last long. Lionel Messi plays an excellent through ball to Luis Suarez, who smashes the ball past keeper Girona keeper Bono, no relation to the U2 singer.

  6. goal

GOAL - Barcelona 0-1 Gironapublished at 3 mins

    Portu

    WHAT'S THIS NOW????

Barcelona needlessly give the ball away, Anthony Lozano - a Barcelona B striker until January - runs from his own half. He overhits the ball, I think he means to get on the end of it, but Samuel Umtiti switches off. Portu takes it on. His shot hits the near post and then the far post and drops into the back of the net.

Girona boss Pablo Machin on the Chelsea comparisons: “That means we’ve put ourselves on the first division map.

“If other teams have won at the Camp Nou, then we can too.

“But we’ll need to play an excellent game and they’ll need to have an off-day.

"In these games we do not have to motivate the players. Without a doubt, we have a lot to win and little to lose."

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde: “Girona are a team with a bit of a spark, they always attack and get in your face and they don’t sit back.

“It’s a derby and they are having a terrific season. They are a newly promoted side and are without doubt the surprise package of the league.

“They have a very clear way of playing and you can recognise that. They have excellent players on the counter like Stuani and Portu who are both in great form.

"Their system is a bit special, a little like that of Chelsea. They have caught my attention and there are a lot of teams who have to adapt to try and stop what they do.”

    Barcelona v Girona (19:45 GMT)

Girona are flying in their first season in La Liga. They start today ninth and could move up to seventh if they win today.

That's a big 'if' seeing as they are the ninth Catalan club to play Barca at the Nou Camp. All other eight have lost their first game there.

    Barcelona v Girona (19:45 GMT)

Today in their 87th year of existence, Girona play a match down the road at the Nou Camp (or any of Barcelona's old grounds) for the first time.

This is a strange rivalry. This is Girona's first ever season in the top flight and many of their fans also support Barcelona. This season plenty of Barca fans have been cheering on their neighbours too.

Before the game, there are children's activities including face painting.

    The Old Firm, this ain't.
