Reading were given a let off twice when Leon Clarke couldn't convert, but they're not so fortunate a third time.

Clarke heavily involved again and Billy Sharp stabs it home at the second attempt from his cross from the left.

Four goals in four starts for loanee striker Oli McBurnie as he puts Barnsley in front with a header from Brad Potts' cross. Just the start the Tykes would have wanted at the KCOM.

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Massive let off for Reading after that enforced change.

Tiago Ilori and Liam Moore get in a tangle in their own defence and Leo Clarke snatches it off them.

Just the keeper to beat, but he puts it wide!

    Reading 0-0 Sheffield United

Reading look like they'll be forced into an early change as Garath McCleary has had to hobble off after just three minutes with an injury.

Full-back Omar Richards is coming on to replace him.

  5. Evans in attendance at London Roadpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2018

    Peterborough 0-1 Walsall

Steve Evans and assistant Paul Rayner are in the Posh directors' box at London Road and they won't have enjoyed what they've seen so far.

Julien Ngoy has given away side Walsall an early lead, latching onto a through-ball and rounding goalkeeper Jonathan Bond to score.

Worse still: Marcus Maddison saw a penalty saved by keeper Liam Roberts after Jack Marriott was brought down in snowy conditions.

Evans could be set to take over following Grant McCann's departure on Sunday and it looks like he'll have a lot on his plate.

Still goalless at the KCOM after the opening 10 minutes where Hull have again looked to threaten against Jose Morais' (photo below) side.

Adama Diomande is picked out in the box from Jon Toral's cross, but can only head straight at Barnsley keeper Nick Townsend.

Reading manager Jaap Stam brings Chris Martin back into his starting line-up ahead of Mo Barrow while Joey van den Berg fills the shoes of Omar Richards and Garath McLeary replaces Sone Aluko.

Mark Duffy replacing Ryan Leonard is the only change to Sheffield United's side from their defeat by Hull on Friday night.

The other Championship match this evening sees Chris Wilder's Sheffield United side travel to Reading tonight looking to leap back into the play-off places.

A win for the Blades tonight would lift them above out-of-form Bristol City to sixth.

    Hull City 0-0 Barnsley

Hull straight out the blocks in the early stages with a chance.

Nouha Dicko and Jon Toral link up on the edge of the Barnsley box, but Jarrod Bowen has his strike well blocked by the defence to get it clear.

Nigel Adkins makes one change to his Hull side as Jon Toral comes in for Evandro, whose injury rules him out of the squad completely.

Will Keane comes onto the bench.

There's two defensive changes for Barnsley as full-backs Dimi Cavare and Dani Pinillos replace Andy Yiadom and Zeki Fryers in a 4-3-3 set up.

Hull City v Barnsley (19:45 GMT)

    Championship tableImage source, BBC Sport

As mentioned, three points for either Hull City or Barnsley would be absolutely huge in East Yorkshire tonight as both sides look to ease their relegation worries.

Barnsley jumped above Birmingham City after their 2-0 win at St Andrew's while Hull also recorded a home win last Friday against Sheffield United.

Timely victories those for both sides.

"These players know already that myself and Jose (Morais) will go to the end of the world with them," - the words of Barnsley's assistant head coach Dimas at their pre-match press conference.

Well, that won't be necessary tonight as they've only had to make a 74-mile journey to reach Hull City's KCOM Stadium.

The two Yorkshire clubs are certainly close in football terms, with just one point and one place separating them at the wrong end of the Championship table.

Both are looking to build on a victory in their last game - Hull at Sheffield United and Barnsley away to Birmingham City - but neither have managed back-to-back wins in the league so far this season.

Will one of them manage to double up tonight? A draw is not really a lot of good to either side as they look to pull clear of the bottom three.

Reading v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

The Beast from the East may well have stretched its limbs a little further west today, but so far not seriously enough to put one of our two Championship fixtures in doubt as the Madejski Stadium ground staff have been explaining....

The weather didn't want to play ball at the Memorial Stadium this evening as the League One fixture between Bristol Rovers and Wigan Athletic was postponed earlier this afternoon.

It's means FA Cup quarter-finalists Wigan miss the chance to climb back into the automatic promotion places.

There's also been a postponement this evening in the Checkatrade Trophy where Shrewsbury Town and Yeovil Town will have to wait for their chance to face Lincoln City at Wembley in April's final.
