Even if Newcastle go down, you can't argue how well Benitez has kept this side competitive. No money, no problems.

  3. 'We showed our quality'published at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Newcastle 3-0 Southampton

    Newcastle United

Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey: "We had a game plan, we worked on it over the last couple of days and implemented it well, and thought we fully deserved points.

"We've got the character in the team to grind out results, but today showed our quality as well. We've not done that enough this season."

On his performance: "I thought I played well, Probably should not have because of my knee but it killed me last week to not play against Liverpool, so I had an injection to play, and always willing to play through the pain for this club."

On a possible England call-up: "I'm not thinking about that, if I do well, who knows, but the main thing is to secure our survival with Newcastle."

    Newcastle 3-0 Southampton

    Michael O'Neill
Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 live

Jonjo Shelvey had a good game. Not as good as against Manchester United, where he was my man of the match, but today he has played the ball forward, picked up second balls and been very disciplined with Diame in midfield.

As for Newcastle, they can probably start feeling a little more confident that their Premier League status will be retained. Southampton should be very, very worried.

    A fine point.

Huddersfield will view it as a chance wasted. They found the target with four of 28 shots. Swansea didn't have a single effort all day.

William Darling: I'd hate to see what West Ham fans would do if they were actually in the relegation zone

Craig: Why hasn't the West Ham game not been stopped. Players safety is a priority. How many points will they get for the fans behavior. Ten points loss & they're be bottom. We are past this sort of behavior this years ago.

Philip Whitehead: Surely West Ham are going to be forced to play their next home game(s) behind closed doors?

  17. Pressure builds...published at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Huddersfield 0-0 Swansea

Ki Sung-yueng comes off for Swansea, probably to waste time as they near what has on times seemed an unlikely point.

We go into the last minute and Huddersfield come forward again. Steve Mounie gets the chance to shoot on the edge of the box but three red shirts rush him brilliantly.

He can't get a strike off. Four added minutes...

  18. 'Fury of West Ham fans palpable'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    West Ham 0-3 Burnley

    Andy Rowley
    BBC Radio London commentator

The level of fury is palpable. About 50 deep now, the West Ham fans who have their back turned on the game. People climbing up the barriers towards the owner, wanting to sack the board.

'You've destroyed our club' is one of the chants that can be heard.

  19. 'Ire and antagonism at West Ham'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    West Ham 0-3 Burnley

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker on BBC Radio London

David Sullivan and David Gold have been forced to leave their seats now. I don't know whether they'll swerve the situation now or make a statement to try to ease the ire and antagonism amongst the supporters. West Ham have got five more home fixtures before the end of the season so it bodes for an even more uncomfortable atmosphere. As a club, they cannot afford to be relegated from the Premier League.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    Everton 0-0 Brighton

Everton are on their way up to ninth and 37 points. A tally which should ensure safety.

Jordan Pickford makes a fine save to deny a thumping Pascal Gross hit from 18 yards.
