There is an amazing atmosphere here today.

Stoke fans have it in for Danny Rose in particular as a perceived overreaction to a challenge from Ryan Shawcross got the defender sent off in a previous meeting between the sides back in 2014.

There have been a couple of niggly challenges on Stoke players that have gone unpunished, then Rose was booed again after going down when he was kicked in the chest.

Pieters nips at Alli's ankles one too many times just outside the Stoke penalty area and out comes the card.

Stoke fans are in fine voice.

Son Heung-min finds himself clean through on goal with only the Stoke keeper to beat but Butland keeps his composure to block the shot.

That's a huge chance for Spurs. Son usually buries those chances.

Christian Eriksen tries to bend a free-kick into the top corner from a difficult angle but the ball ends up in the hands of a fan behind the goal.

Paul Lambert will be delighted with the way his side have started. Stoke are getting stuck in, although how costly will that early miss by Mame Biram Diouf prove?

I normally associate continental managers with touchline historionics but Paul Lambert in bucking the trend at Stoke.

While Mauricio Pochettino has been watching proceedings with his arms folded when he has ventured to the edge of his techinal area, Lambert has been almost manic.

When Mame Biram Diouf missed a great chance for the hosts just then, Lambert crouched low, holding his head in his hands, before leaping up to applaud his team for creating the opportunity in the first place.

This is beginning to open up.

A glorious chance for Stoke as Erik Pieters' low cross is met by Mame Biram Diouf but he can't keep hit the target and instead finds Row Z from close range.

Will the Potters get a better chance?

Stoke are growing into this. A roar goes up from the home fans as Badou Ndiaye wins a good old fashioned challenge against Mousa Dembele in the centre circle.

Mame Biram Diouf wins Stoke their first corner. It's whipped into the six-yard box and Hugo Lloris flaps at the ball before gathering it at the second attempt.

Hugo Lloris is making his 200th Premier League appearance. It's been a quiet opening for the Spurs captain. Tottenham enjoyed 84% possession in the first five minutes but no chances so far.

Even so, I am struggling to work out the value of Stoke's players heading to the touchline after the pre-match handshake to skip through two white cones before running back out to the centre of the pitch.
