Credit to Sunderland. Their performance against Fulham told a different story to their league position this season and Joel Asoro had a particularly good game having scored a tremendous opener for Chris Coleman's side.

  3. 'I am happy to take the pressure off'published at 22:05 British Summer Time 27 April 2018

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Sunderland

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic told Sky Sports:

"Today it was complicated for us and I am happy to take the pressure off our back. It's part of the competition.

"Aleksandar's contribution is crucial. He's scored many winning goals and today it was an important goal for us.

"[Cardiff playing Hull] is not under my control, I expect taking this pressure off our back will make us better in the next game."

    And breathe..

Here's how the top of the Championship table looks going into Saturday's round of fixtures. Cardiff City face Hull City tomorrow and a win for Neil Warnock's side will put them back into second place going into the final game.

Technically it's possible for Aston Villa to steal second place if they win their final two games, but Fulham's win tonight makes that an unlikely possibility and Cardiff can rule them out of automatic promotion contention altogether if they win tomorrow.

Next up for Fulham meanwhile, is a trip to Birmingham City next week.

  7. 'Hopefully Cardiff can slip up'published at 21:53 British Summer Time 27 April 2018

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Sunderland

Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks told Sky Sports:

"It wasn't pretty and it's not how we wanted to play. We would have wanted a more comfortable night but at this stage of the season we've put a bit of pressure on Cardiff City and hopefully they can slip up.

"Aleksandar has been amazing. He's come in and scored a hatful of goals and the passion he shows is like he's been here for five years.

"He shows more passion than I've ever seen in a loan player. Credit to him, he came here with a point to prove and I think he's done that."

  8. 'We have to make a final push'published at 21:51 British Summer Time 27 April 2018

    FT: Fulham 2-1 Sunderland

Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic told Sky Sports:

"Of course I was confident, but if the team play good, I play good as well. We didn't play the best as we have for most of the season, but in the end we got three points.

"It was a really hard and tough game but we have to be happy with this win tonight.

"We have one game left and we have to make that final push and see what is going to happen. We came a really long way. If someone asked us before Christmas to take second place in the last game, and be in this position, the gaffer would 100% have taken it."
