Real Madrid will be looking to close the gap on their city rivals Atletico but for me the real interest in this game centres on two of their fallen stars Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
Once automatic starters and vital parts of Zinedine Zidane’s best 11, the Welshman and the Frenchman have dropped down the pecking order this season.
As Marca worked out this week Bale has played just 32% of the minutes in Real’s biggest games this year; the five Champions League knockout matches. Benzema is doing little better with 47% of the available minutes.
So this is an opportunity for the pair to show Zidane that they still have plenty to offer. In fairness to Bale he has scored two goals in his last two starts but for now Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio are the players Zidane trusts ahead of the former Tottenham forward to deliver in their crucial matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be adding to his tally of 24 La Liga goals today. He is one of a number of players rested before Tuesday's Champions League semi-final return leg with Bayern Munich.
Others being saved include Isco, Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal and Raphael Varane.
Gareth Bale returns to the starting line-up and Karim Benzema also starts.
