    Barcelona lead El Clasico.

They start the move deep inside their own half, Sergi Roberto runs 50 yards down the right and crosses above the head of Lionel Messi to Luis Suarez, who volleys home as the ball drops from the air.

  3. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Real Madrid

Ivan Rakitic plays a defence-splitting ball through to Lionel Messi, who had just run offside. Keylor Navas did well to come off his line and touch the ball away from Messi anyway.

  4. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be playing on the left wing, instead of the centre forward position he's had for a couple of years now. Doesn't stop him shooting from the wing though - but it's straight at Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

  5. Postpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

This is only the fourth time that Barcelona have ever come in El Clasico 15 or more points ahead of Real Madrid.

  6. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Real Madrid

Almost 100,000 boos for Cristiano Ronaldo as Karim Benzema finds him on the left wing. Ronaldo's cross is held by Marc-Andre ter Stegen as it almost drops it under the bar.

More boos for Ronaldo as he (wrongly) denies he was offside as the flag goes up.

The problem is if Real Madrid win three Champions Leagues in a row, nobody will remember a Barcelona unbeaten season.

In front of the dugouts, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were continuing their preparations by pinging 40-yard one-touch passes to each other, as Messi stood near the halfway line and Suarez level with the penalty spot.

It was always more fun when Dani Alves warmed up with Messi and they played long-range keepy-uppy. Now it’s shooting practice: Suarez drills one into the bottom right corner from 20 yards but Messi’s first attempt hits the post – on top of everything else, he leads La Liga in that category as well after hitting the woodwork 14 times.

Lionel Messi has scored more Clasico goals than anyone else (25), Cristiano Ronaldo is third (17)

It's hard to do El Clasico build-up without mentioning the two lads.

Lionel Messi, with 32 goals, is likely to win the Pichichi - Spain's golden boot - with Cristiano Ronaldo second with 24.

This is actually Messi's worst goal involvement (including assists) since 2013-14 (although the season isn't over obviously). He has 'only' scored 43 and set up 18 in all competitions.

Ronaldo is on his second best scoring streak since moving to La Liga - scoring 16 goals in a run of eight domestic games.

In a stat that means little, if you exclude Messi's goals, Barca would be level on points with Real. If you exclude Ronaldo's goals, Real would be out of the Champions League places.

Barcelona v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

This match is the first El Clasico for Philippe Coutinho.

Twelve months ago he was scoring against Middlesbrough for Liverpool.

Will the Brazilian mark his debut in this fixture with a goal to remember?

Darren: (Re: 1923) Barca gave Sevilla a guard of honour after they won the Europa League. They weren't in that competition. They give one when it suits them.

Before the players come out, there’s an introduction onto the pitch for Barca’s young players who recently won the Uefa Youth League, beating Chelsea in the final. The club will now hope to see some of those rising stars to make the progression into the senior team, something which hasn’t really happened in the last five years. Hopes are particularly high for ball-playing 18-year-old midfielder Riqui Puig.

    • 'Barca could enter pantheon'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

      James Horncastle

Barcelona still have the opportunity to become the first Spanish side in history to go a complete campaign undefeated.

If they were to come through the Clasico, then that will certainly help enter this side into a pantheon really. Nobody else has done it. Regardless of how you feel about this Barcelona side, and they're not really at the same standard as they were under Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique, that's one hell of an achievement.

Dave Wood: (Re 19:10) Useless Clasico? Do you not think Real will be going all out to end Barcas unbeaten run?

Shehu: It's only Barca that has something to play for, Real are just here to complete formalities.

BLASTS: Barcelona played a part in the Champions League, the only route to Club World Cup for Europe clubs. So, it was dishonest for Barcelona claims of not participating.
