  1. 'Dad will ring me after every game'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

Lampard started his career under the management of uncle Harry Redknapp, who had his father Frank Lampard senior as his assistant.

He says both have given his decision their full backing.

"My dad was very, very behind it and Harry (Redknapp) the same.

"I knew my own mind but I was looking for back up and it was a resounding yes from everyone.

"My dad will be ringing me after every game and I'm fortunate that I have that around me.

"There's nothing wrong with listening but I'll make my own decisions."

  2. 'Are you a tracksuit or suit manager Frank?'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

All the big important questions coming now....

"This really matters to everybody doesn't it?

"But suit. I like to be smart. It's my style.

"But, win games is the most important thing - tracksuit or suit!"

  3. Lampard will be his own managerpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

"I've thought about being a manager a lot because I had the pleasure of so many great managers.

"I'm not a clone of any one manager I had.

"I'll make my own judgements and I'll be open. The players are all on a blank canvas with me."

  4. Lampard "ready for the pressure"published at 14:04 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

"I was a player and took some stick for 20 years, so pressure is part of the territory.

"But you can't take away the will to succeed.

"I've been away from the game for 18 months and I still had that desire to come and manage, manage at the cut-throat end of the game that's always been in the blood.

"I'm not afraid of the pressure, I just want to make a success of it."

  5. Derby's ambitions match mine - Lampardpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

Frank Lampard strides into the room and, after the usual mandatory posed handshake, sits down to answer some questions...

"It feels great," he says first up.

    "It's a fantastic opportunity.

"I'm well aware of the club's traditions and I knew the size of the club and the fanbase.

"Having open conversations with the board and where we want to go, it matches."

So, how do you think Lampard will get on in his first managerial appointment?

Will he follow the path of other great players turned successful managers like Man City boss Pep Guardiola and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane?

Or will this step into the unknown prove to be as disastrous as Frank de Boer's four Premier League games in charge of Crystal Palace?

  8. Inexperience not a problem - Redknapppublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

The man who gave Frank Lampard his Premier League debut at the age of 17 does not believe his lack of managerial experience will hold him back.

Harry Redknapp was West Ham manager when Lampard broke through and he believes his high levels of professionalism will rub off on his new charges.

"He'll get the best out of the players for sure, he's been around it all his life," Redknapp told BBC 5 live.

"His whole life has been in and around football, so he knows the pitfalls, he knows what it's like, he knows the ups and downs of the job and I'm sure he's going to do very well.

"He's going to demand high standards, which is not a bad thing, why shouldn't he demand high standards? They all get well paid, they should do extra after training, they should practise harder, that's what he did so I'm sure he's going to demand the same things from the players at Derby."

  9. "Hair products are vital now"published at 13:51 British Summer Time 31 May 2018

Unsurprisingly Lampard has received well wishes from many of the great and good of professional football... and One Direction.

Among the former team-mates to wish Lampard luck on social media are Manchester United's Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku, Manchester City's David Silva and ex-England striker Alan Shearer, while One Direction singer Niall Horan also welcomed him to Derby.

Perhaps the best message came from former West Ham and England team-mate Rio Ferdinand who posted: "Good luck Lampty!!! Hair products are vital now... Keep that head of hair where it is."

It's just seventeen days since Derby County's season ended with a play-off semi-final defeat by Fulham and, well, it's not been a quiet summer so far.

Eight days on boss Gary Rowett jumped ship to take over at relegated Premier League side Stoke City.

The Rams have acted swiftly to bring in his replacement and while they may not have gone for experience it's certainly an appointment which catches the eye.

Frank Lampard won 106 caps for England, helped Chelsea win a Champions League and three Premier League titles but this will be his first foray into club management.

The Championship side announced his appointment this morning and we'll endeavour to bring you all the best bits as he meets the press for the first time at 14:00 BST.
