  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 88 mins

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

Martin Montoya hauls down Raheem Sterling as he charges towards the area, and that is another booking for Lee Mason to dish out.

Before the free-kick can be taken, David Silva is replaced by Phil Foden, fresh from scoring his first senior goal for the club against Oxford in midweek.

Bernardo Silva's free-kick is put behind for a corner, which is subsequently cleared, but City remain in complete control.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 79 mins

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

A change for Brighton. Anthony Knockaert is off, Alireza Jahanbakhsh is on.

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

City are in complete control as we approach the final 10 minutes. They are passing the ball around at will inside Brighton's half, occasionally looking to have a shot. This time Riyad Mahrez tests Mat Ryan from the edge of the area, bringing a decent low stop from the Seagulls keeper.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

It's not been a rewarding afternoon for Jurgen Locadia, who has worked his socks off up front for Brighton while touching the ball only 20 times and managing just one (blocked) shot at goal. On comes Glenn Murray to try his luck instead.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 68 mins

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

It's hard to see a way back into this game for Brighton, and difficult to know what they can try next. Do they stick - continue to sit back and protect their goal difference, or twist - push men forward and risk further damage?

City are making another change, replacing Leroy Sane with Riyad Mahrez, who has scored three goals in his past two games for City.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

That is some way for Sergio Aguero to sign off for the afternoon. He finishes his celebration and is replaced by Gabriel Jesus.

    GOALpublished at 65 mins

Man City 2-0 Brighton (Sergio Aguero)

What a goal this is. Started and finished by Sergio Aguero, who was about to be replaced by Gabriel Jesus.

Aguero picks up the ball about 40 yards from goal and drives towards the area, with Kyle Walker's decoy run down the right distracting the Brighton defence. Aguero goes past about three men before feeding Raheem Sterling, then continues his run to get on the end of Sterling's cross, and finds the bottom corner.

  14. Brighton not out of this yetpublished at 61 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

City are completely on top but while the score remains 1-0, Brighton are not out of this. It has been a long time since the Seagulls threatened, however.

  15. City lead 20-4 (in shots)published at 60 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

City have had 20 shots in total now. Brighton have had four.

  16. Sane goes close as City lay siegepublished at 57 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

City have all the possession, and now they are peppering the Brighton goal. Leroy Sane goes close from a Bernardo Silva cross, heading the ball downwards but seeing it bounce over the bar.

Then Sergio Aguero sees his shot blocked, before David Silva forces a great save from Mat Ryan with his follow-up.

  17. Brighton stuck in their own halfpublished at 54 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

    touchesImage source, BBC Sport

Perhaps this is predictable, but again it shows the way this game has gone...

The average position of the touches by nine of City's players is in the Brighton half (or as good as anyway). None of the Seagulls players have an average position beyond the halfway line.

  18. City playing pretty passing patternspublished at 50 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Brighton are still defending in numbers, and City are still playing pretty passing patterns, trying to find a way through.

If they are going to get back on level terms, the Seagulls have got to make the most of the ball on the rare occasions they find themselves in the City half... and they fail here, with Davy Propper firing an attempted through-ball straight out of play.

  19. Where will Brighton goal come from?published at 47 mins

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

So far Brighton's only shot on target is that early Shane Duffy header, that was barely looping goalwards before Ederson collected it.

A reminder that the Seagulls have not won any of their past 16 away Premier League games, and have not scored in 11 of them.

Meanwhile, City have started the second half the way they finished the first... on the attack. Kyle Walker has just fizzed a shot wide from long range.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

    Man City 1-0 Brighton

Sergio Aguero gets the second half started for City.
