Charlie Austin is played through by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after a neat chipped ball, but he miscontrols and it goes out for a goal kick.

Ryan Bertrand is the first man in Lee Probert's notebook at the Vitality, the Southampton captain sees yellow for kicking the ball away.

Simon Francis sends in a looping cross for Bournemouth, but Callum Wilson heads over the bar from the centre of the box.

Nathan Redmond runs into the Bournemouth box and is just about stopped by a sliding challenge from home captain Simon Francis.

The resulting corner is an easy take for Asmir Begovic.

Callum Wilson robs the ball from Southampton captain Ryan Bertrand on the right and plays it into David Brooks, but the winger fires his shot high and wide of Alex McCarthy's right hand post.

Adam Smith concedes a corner for Bournemouth, and when the ball comes in, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has a go from the edge of the area.

His strike takes a big deflection of Ryan Fraser, and Asmir Begovic is able to collect.

Southampton's turn to drive forward now...

Nathan Redmond plays a nice through ball to Charlie Austin but he's judged to be in an offside position.

Bournemouth are just about having the better of the early exchanges in this one.

The Cherries win the first corner of the match, but the delivery is caught by Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy without issue.
