It's headed over and that brings an end to the first half.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

A good advantage from Anthony Taylor leads to Philip Biling linking up well with Florent Hadergjonaj. The right-back delivers a good cross into the box but there are no Huddersfield shirts to meet it.

The Terriers have a free-kick in a promising position now just before the interval...

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

A wasted opportunity for Huddersfield as Juninho Bacuna bursts through the Newcastle defence. He lays it off to Chris Lowe, who has managed to stray well offside in the process.

Encouraging stuff from the 21-year-old, though.

A cheeky one from Fabian Schar there!

The defender quickly takes a free-kick from the halfway line after seeing Jonas Lossl move away from his goal, but the accuracy isn't there on this occasion.

That really would have been something...

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle cannot get out of their half at the minute. It's been really positive from Huddersfield but, as has been the problem so far this season, they need to make these opportunities count.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

    Shouts for a handball?

The ball falls for Terence Kongolo at the back post, and the Huddersfield defender lifts the ball towards goal but instead hits Fabian Schar.

Replays show it clearly hit the defender's head though.

Laurent Depoitre is working hard for Huddersfield up front and earns a free kick after a very strong tackle from Jamaal Lascelles.

It's relentless stuff at the minute from the hosts.

Alex Pritchard has been full of positive running for the home side so far and is constantly busy across the park.

His influence in the game continues to grow and it looks like he holds the key for Huddersfield today.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle go close!

Fabian Schar finds himself in space from Kenedy's deep free-kick, but the defender can't beat Jonas Lossl from an ever-decreasing angle and the hosts manage to clear their lines.

A warning for Huddersfield, who switched off at the back there.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

No goals, but considering the talk of limited goals before this match it has been a promising opening 20 minutes in terms of attacking intent at the Kirklees Stadium.

One goal was enough to win this fixture in both meetings last season however, and that might well be the case again today.

  12. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

A really good save there by Martin Dubravka, who is at full stretch to tip over a long-range Philip Biling free-kick.

It looked too far out to cause any problems but it's a great strike. It's safely cleared by Newcastle from the resulting corner but the Terriers come again.

  13. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

A nasty one for Jonas Lossl as Christian Atsu lands on the goalkeeper's knee.

It was certainly an honest, 50-50 challenge but Lossl needs a bit of treatment for the time being.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

According to one website it feels like -15 at Huddersfield today. That may have contributed slightly to the quick pace of this one so far...

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

A chance at the other end goes begging again for Huddersfield!

It was admittedly a difficult one for Chris Lowe who manages to hit a volley, albeit not very convincingly and his effort drifts wide of Dubravka's goal.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

But Jonas Lossl - impressive against Arsenal last weekend - comes out to punch the ball and does enough to clear the danger.

A lively start - both sides are well aware of the importance of this one.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle

The stats suggest this should be a close contest, but neither side will care how they win this one today.

The hosts have settled quickly into their passing as Juninho Bacuna approaches the edge of the Newcastle penalty area. It's initially cleared but the Terriers have earned a first corner of the afternoon.
