The interesting thing is before the goal happen Otamendi came off for Aguero and now the game has flipped.

Kyle Walker is having a tough day, blatant penalty. These days happen.

I said at one point Palace were in big trouble, the way Palace have come back is brilliant

    Incredible!

That roar you can hear is Liverpool fans leaping for joy as Luka Milivojevic keeps his composure to beat Ederson from the spot.

Palace have a two-goal cushion against the reigning champions and Liverpool have a four-point lead in the 'as it stands' table.

And the drama keeps on coming!

Few complaints from the home side as Kyle Walker brings down Max Meyer and Andre Marriner points to the penalty spot.

Moments earlier, Andros Townsend headed against the woodwork.

  6. What a difference 12 months makes...published at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

Manchester City were 13 points clear on Christmas Day last year and had the title in the bag, or Santa's sack if you prefer. Unless they can turn this one around they will be four points adrift of Liverpool and I can't imagine Pep Guardiola will enjoy opening his presents next week.

I doubt Pep is smiling too much at the moment either to be honest. Palace only managed two shots at goal in that first half - but it was definitely a case of quality, not quantity and boy did they make them both count.

For all City's possession - and they have had 76% of it - they have lacked invention in the final third and are not moving forward with their usual fluency. Fernandinho, for starters, is a big miss at the heart of their midfield.

    Any Liverpool fans getting excited?

There's a long way to go in this one but Palace are halfway to sending shockwaves through the Premier League.

    We're back under way.

Ryan: So City had 78% possession with an assault on goal, yet only mustered one goal.. Palace scored two in virtually as many minutes. Quality over quantity is vastly underrated!

Nokeeroe: Looks like that wily old campaigner Roy Hodgson is about to pull off the result of the season at the Etihad.

There's a lot of life left in this one yet, Nokeeroe

Forget Christmas drinks and nibbles with the neighbours later. That DVD you bought and intend to watch can wait. Whatever plans you have cancel them now.

Stay in and watch Match of the Day. Trust me. It'll be worth it just to see Andros Townsend's goal.

Moments like that don't happen very often.

That's what's special about the game, when somebody does something like that.

It'll be remembered by all the Palace supporters, the player himself... Andros Townsend will put his head on the pillow tonight and think 'how have I done that?!' What a feeling for him.

It's chucking it down. Pep Guardiola is glued to his seat and looks concerned.

  15. Schlupp and Townsend silence the Etihadpublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Man City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Chris Bevan

The City fans were just in the middle of a rousing rendition of "stand up for the champions" when Jeffrey Schlupp buried Palace's equaliser in the bottom corner of Ederson's net.... and Andros Townsend's belting volley has left the majority of this stadium in stunned silence.

  16. 'Goal of the season contender'published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 December 2018

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

Andros Townsend must be 30 yards out and shows great technique. When he hits it, it doesn't move it flies straight. You can't say Ederson had a chance.

It's a contender for goal of the season. I've not seen anything better so far.

    GOAL OF THE SEASON?

Those plans you had for tonight? Scrap them now and make sure you are watching Match Of The Day.

Palace have come from behind to take the lead with a goal of breathtaking beauty from Andros Townsend, a dipping volley from fully 30-yards.

I'm not doing it justice. You need to watch it. It's an absolute belter!

    Oh. My. Word.

A goal from completely out of the blue stuns the Etihad into silence.

Jeffrey Schlupp is forced out wide by Kyle Walker but still manages to find the net with a low finish.

City don't conceded many at home and there's already an inquest being conducted by the home defence into what happened.

It's been coming from the very first kick!

City have had to work hard for the breakthrough but they have the lead thanks to another patient and well-crafted move.

It starts with Kyle Walker's delicious long pass to Fabian Delph who whips in a cross for Ilkay Gundogan to head home.
