Tim Ream gets a painful one in the ankle as Christian Atsu comes flying in to make sure he wins the ball - which he does.

The Fulham man receives treatment on the pitch and Claudio Ranieri watches on anxiously.

The ball comes to Salomon Rondon at the far post but his header is cleared - just - by Fulham. Newcastle are like a battering ram, not giving up and continuously attacking the back line. Eventually, Fabian Schar's long ball is gathered in by Sergio Rico.

There's been no increase in intensity since the start of the second half. Javier Manquillo has been heavily involved though. But this time the referee gives a goalkick despite Joe Bryan appearing to get the last touch.

Ki Sung-yeung does some great work on the right side to create space in the box but his first-time cross is terrible and flies out for a goalkick.

Rafa Benitez thumps his thighs in frustration.

Javier Manquillo's cross is met by Matt Ritchie at the back post. His header is blocked and Newcastle win a corner.

Aleksandar Mitrovic heads it away and Manquillo tries to volley it in from about 20 yards out. It's got more chance of hitting the top of the stand though as it flies way over the bar.

There's no flag and Aleksandar Mitrovic is able to gallop away down the left side. His first touch lets him down and he's at a wide angle when he tries to drill one across the face of goal - looking for the toe of a teammate. It's not a good ball though and it's comfortably collected by Martin Dubravka.

It's been a frustrating afternoon for Aleksandar Mitrovic so far. The former Newcastle man hasn't had too much sight at goal.

He had an effort in the first three minutes and that's been his only shot on target. In fact, the closest he has come to scoring was when he almost deflected Jamaal Lascelles' header into his own net. He needs better service in this second half.

Fulham are like a brick wall at the back and Newcastle are trying everything to break it down. Eventually a cross is aimed at Salomon Rondon but it's a little too high and his effort bounces harmlessly over the goal.

Jean Michael Seri goes for goal but his effort lacks pace and it's a comfortable save for Martin Dubravka.

Newcastle immediately go up the other end and Matt Ritchie thinks it's hit the hand of Calum Chambers. There's huge cries for a penalty but again, Martin Atkinson waves it away.

This game is lacking spice but Andros Townsend has just scored a screamer as Crystal Palace have come from behind to go 2-1 up against Manchester City.

But over at St James' Park, Fabian Schar brings down Joe Bryan and Fulham have a free-kick in a nice area.

David Ljunggren: Looking at this miserable Newcastle-Fulham match it's hard to tell which side is bottom of the league.

Alfie Mawson is back on his feet and is being walked off by the medical staff. No substitution being made just yet though.

Oh, that's a painful one! Under pressure from Salomon Rondon, Sergio Rico and Alfie Mawson leap towards the ball but the Fulham keeper ends up punching his own defender straight in the face.

Mawson goes down very groggily and the medical staff are called straight onto the pitch. He's conscious but it looks like he'll need to go off.
