Kyle: Despite the 9 changes good to see Emery playing a strong side with a strong bench to. I can see Arsenal getting a fairly comfortable 2-0 win tonight. Hopefully Welbeck will continue his excellent form in Europe too.

Sporting are on their third boss of the season.

Tiago Fernandes, the youth-team boss, is in caretaker charge after the exit of Jose Peseiro, who had replaced Sinisa Mihajlovic, who lasted nine days in the job.

Tiago is not expected to become the permanent boss, with Al Jazira coach Marcel Keizer rumoured to be close to a deal.

"As manager of Sporting, every game you play with this team is to win," Tiago said.

"I do what the chairman has asked me and on Thursday I will do the same as I have throughout the week. I have had help from the players.

"That motivates me and I have happiness to represent this team in the competition and to manage players with this quality."

Olivier Giroud - who scored his first Chelsea goal in 794 minutes - speaking to BT Sport: "The manager kept saying we need to finish first in the group, and the earlier the better so tonight we’ve done the job even if we could have been more efficient.

"It’s a clean sheet and we won the game. We defended very well and they defended cohesively so it was difficult to find solutions at times and stop them on the break.

"I was hoping to score soon because I came back late from the World Cup and I was lacking maybe a bit of efficiency and luck but you always need to keep working hard and keep the faith and that’s what happened tonight."
