What a day of Premiership action.

Celtic remain top of the tree, courtesy of a 3-0 victory at home to Dundee.

What about high-flying Aberdeen? An eighth win in 10 league games propels Derek McInnes' side up to second place.

Hamilton and Kilmarnock shared the points; as did Hibs and Livingston in the Scottish capital.

And it'll be a Merry Christmas for the Buddies, after St Mirren recorded a 1-0 win at Motherwell.

Hamilton manager Martin Canning is pleased with his side's spirit as they fought back to claim a point - their first from a losing position this season.

"I thought the first 15/ 20 minutes Kilmarnock started well, as you would expect from a team in form at the top end of the table," Canning said.

"We grew our way back into the game, and we get our goal through the penalty from Mickel [Miller], we hit the post through Scott McMann and a good chance for Mickel late on. We were more than in the game, I think a draw was a fair result."

Motherwell assistant manager Keith Lasley: "Everything was too slow, too precise. We never started the game and that set the tone throughout.

"Here at home, you've got to be better than that. I don't think we deserved to win.

"The next game becomes even bigger now, against Kilmarnock on Wednesday. We've got to show more. We demand a reaction."

Kilmarnock certainly had chances to move clear at 1-0, so is manager Steve Clarke frustrated at getting just a point?

"I'm not furstrated no," he told Sportsound listeners.

"I don't think we quite did enough to get all three points today, although we did miss some really good chances, one in particular that normally Greg [Stewart] would tuck away.

"The game changes on the penalty decision but I've no great qualms about it, Eamonn [Brophy] moves his arm towards the ball. It was soft and it gave Hamilton something to cling on to, up until then I don't think they believed they could get anything out of the game.

"You see the Hamilton players celebrating at the end a home point against Kilmarnock as if they've done something marvellous."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes disagreed with Hearts counterpart Craig Levein's assertion that the referee had got the big decisions wrong in the game at Pittodrie.

The Dons were awarded a second half penalty, but Hearts felt they should have had two themselves.

He tells BBC Scotland: "I felt the game at Tynecastle was a real injustice [2-1 defeat in October]. They got two penalties that should never have been. I didn't see any complaints from Hearts then.

"The best team won. We can moan about this and that, but the better team won. [Christophe] Berra pulled down [Scott] McKenna, it's a penalty. I thought the referee had a good game. The only thing I would question is [Steven] Naismith's yellow that maybe should have been a red."

The Dons have now won eight of their last 10 league match, and are three points behind Celtic ahead of the Boxing Day clash between the two at Pittodrie.

McInnes said: "The players started brilliantly. I thought we caused all sorts of problems, we were dominant."

Hearts manager Craig Levein tells BBC Scotland that Hearts have been wronged by refereeing decisions in the 2-0 defeat by Aberdeen.

He tells BBC Scotland: "It's frustrating. I was much happier with the team's performance than I was the previous week. I do honestly think there was nothing in the game.

"I think we should have had two penalties. [Peter] Haring has a free header at goal, and Steven Naismith is hauled to the ground 10 yards from the referee. I spoke to the referee and he says he hasn't seen it.

"It's been an error, but it's happened on a number of occasions.

"But I have no doubt today it's a finely balanced match and the big decisions have decided it."

Dundee manager Jim McIntyre: "Celtic's movement, at times, was sensational. We struggled to cope with it. For the first half hour, I thought we coped admirably.

"We made sure that our lines were good and made it difficult. As always, your goalkeeper is going to have to make a lot of saves here, especially when they're in that kind of form.

"Conceding the goal right before half-time was a sore blow.

"These two home games [against Livingston and St Johnstone] are an opportunity for us, but we're going to have to play a lot better than we did today."

A Sam Cosgrove-inspired Aberdeen saw off Hearts at Pittodrie this afternoon to move up to second in the Premiership table.

That's eight wins in 10 league games for Derek McInnes' high-flying outfit. Rangers have the chance to leapfrog the Dons and move into second spot, should they beat St Johnstone tomorrow, but what a run of form for Aberdeen.

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney: "Today we got more of the answers that we wanted to get.

"Particularly away from home it's important that we're hard to beat.

"It's been frustrating for Simeon Jackson at times. We struggled to get him in the game. Simeon's bright and he knows where the net is. It was nice to see him get his goal.

"Dean Lyness had to weigh in with two or three big saves. Anton Ferdinand's been brilliant. I don't think you can quantify the value that he's brought to the club off the pitch. He's been excellent with the young players.

"It's a great win and I'm delighted for everyone at the club. Ideally there will be a few changes in January."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers: "I just said to the players that, in my two-and-a-half years here, it was one of my most enjoyable performances.

"At this time of the year, sometimes the team can look leggy and a bit tired, but our pressing was very good today.

"We didn't really give Dundee the chance to build any sort of sequence of passing or any threat. It was so enjoyable, some of our play... was so pleasing."

The promoted West Lothian side remain in sixth place after ending a run of four successive away defeats, while Hibs nudge above St Johnstone into seventh spot on goal difference.

Ryan Hardie opened the scoring for the visitors at Easter Road, racing through the middle to clip the ball over goalie Adam Bogdan.

Liam Kelly then saved a terrible penalty from Florian Kambeir but Neil Lennon's men did find a way back when Ryan Porteous stooped low to head in a good delivery from Daryl Horgan.
