Add him to the list of Chelsea misfiring strikers from the last 10 years or so. Antonio Rudiger then steps on to the ball in midfield and shoots from a good 40 yards. Well wide. Rudiger then passes clean out of play. Sloppy, shoddy stuff.

Josh Murphy has started the game ever so sharp. Chelsea do not clear the ball and the winger cuts back onto his left foot.

He is not too far away from bending it into the far corner.

And now it's Cardiff who go very close! Chelsea don't deal with an Aron Gunnarsson long throw, dangerman Josh Murphy cuts inside on the right of the area and flashes a left-footed curler right across the face of goal. About two yards wide of the far post!

A frisson of excitement spreads around the Cardiff City Stadium every time the ball makes its way to Josh Murphy.

The winger's had a few darts towards the Chelsea penalty area, and the visitors' defenders look a little apprehensive dealing with him.

Good attack from the cannon fodder as Josh Murphy gets around David Luiz all to easily and puts in a cross which is well cleared. Cardiff then pump a free-kick into the box but that comes to nothing.

David: How is that not a penalty? Rudiger was clearly hauled down there. VAR can't come soon enough

Stuart: From the outside looking in, would suggest Sarri has it right today. Cardiff are cannon fodder so makes sense to rest Hazard & Kante, harsh on Hudson-Odoi though. His time will come.

I'm quite surprised by the Chelsea team selection. It's still a very strong XI but if I was a Cardiff player I would be hoping Chelsea are taking their eye off the ball.
