Southampton have started the second half how they ended the first - on the front foot.

Brighton are yet to get a meaningful foot on the ball after the break.

Southampton have made their way back onto the field, quickly followed by the hosts.

We're all set for the second half - here's hoping for some goals.

It's been a half of few chances but Southampton have had the better of the opportunities.

One additional minute has been allocated at the end of the first half.

Danny Ings drifts through two tackles before sliding Nathan Redmond through on the right, but the winger's low shot is wide. Another good chance by the visitors.

Anthony Knockaert weaves himself some space on the wing and the ball in is directed onto Glenn Murray's head.

But Brighton's top scorer has his back to goal and can only direct his looping header behind.

Brighton are sloppy in possession and Southampton break with numbers.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg gets to the byline and cuts the ball back across goal where Stuart Armstrong is poised to strike.

The Scotland international brings it down on his chest but Lewis Dunk flies into the tackle and manages to block the ball.

Danny Ings finds possession with his back to goal. He turns and shoots almost in one movement but it sails over the bar.

The Saints striker has looked rusty on his return from injury.

Great chance for Southampton.

Stuart Armstrong plays the ball across the Brighton area and Danny Ings tries to open his body to bend the ball into the far corner.

The ball is blocked and Brighton clear their lines but that was the best chance to open the scoring.

Yves Bissouma, who has been threatening to change the game, fires wide from outside of the area. Bright opening for the hosts.

Pass, pass, pass.

Southampton seem content to knock the ball around but they are struggling to create anything of note.

However, the only shot on target so far was Nathan Redmond's stinging effort from the angle.

Brighton are looking more dangerous as the game wears on. Davy Propper plays a one-two with Alireza Jahanbakhsh, but the return is slightly too long and Maya Yoshida clears the danger.

Glenn Murray has just had a wardrobe malfunction, and with half of the first period played, he decides it's too warm for his under garment.

Southampton are just starting to enjoy a period of sustained possession and James Ward-Prowse is at the heart of it.

Nathan Redmond picks up the ball on the edge of the area before unleashing a fierce effort at goal, but Mat Ryan is right behind it.

This time Michael Oliver does show the yellow card to Dale Stephens for a late tackle as Southampton were about to set off at a canter.

That's called 'taking one for the team'.
