  3. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    England 0-0 Argentina

Nikita Parris gets the better of Eliana Stabile on the right, shifting the ball forward before swinging a cross into the centre.

It ends up flying dangerously along the goalline, just inches in front of the keeper's right post.

Trying to do one of those Beth Mead "crots" (cross/shot) there!

This was the chance that fell to Beth Mead right at the end of that first half. Will she get a better one?

  7. 'Attack v defence'published at 21:02 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    HT: England 0-0 Argentina

    BBC One

England manager Phil Neville at half-time: "We knew before the game it would be difficult, we need to be more disciplined and play with speed. We played some fantastic football, it is an attack v defence session at the moment."

Have a guess which one was England's heatmap. They dominated the first half and used the width well but the final ball was lacking.

Just the three shots on target despite having 76% of the possession.

I've got a lovely story of a romance that blossomed at a World Cup.

Among the 16,000 fans at Stade Oceane are these three.

David (a Torquay United fan) was sat on a plane going to a game at the 2002 men's tournament in South Korea.

He ended up next to Yvonne (a Luton fan) who was travelling with Jill (also a Luton fan).

Now, 17 years later, they're still travelling around together at World Cups and David and Jill are married!

    Warms yer cockles, doesn't it?

  11. Here's that penalty save...published at 20:58 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

Will it come back to haunt England in this second half?

  12. 'Getting in their faces'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    HT: England 0-0 Argentina

England and Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs speaking on BBC One: "Argentina are frustrating England with fouls and they're getting in their faces.

"England just need to stay patient and they must move the ball quicker.

"I'd be shooting. Playing against Wales in qualifying was similiar. They need to keep the pressure on and carry on doing what they're doing."

The WHOLE squad from Romsey U15s have turned up in Le Havre to support England.

They were being papped by everyone as I got them to assemble for a sing-sing outside the ground before the game.

Credit where it's due to chaperone Peter, who had them well organised and ready to belt out 'we are England, we are proud'.

Argentina only had one touch of the ball in England’s penalty area in the whole of that first half.

They also only completed 43 passes. But it's still level.

  15. No spacespublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    England 0-0 Argentina

    Dion Dublin
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC One

Who would have thought a team from Argentina would be sitting behind the ball and be physical?

England cannot find the gap. There are no spaces and they cannot get Fran Kirby on the ball.

    England 0-0 New Zealand

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport in Le Havre

No doubt about the hero of the half: Argentina's Vanina Correa, after that penalty save and stopping Beth Mead's low shot. England have shown glimpses of breaking down their opponents' defence, but you have to admire how resolute Argentina have been even if most of the stadium is crying out for an England goal.

  17. Postpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    England 0-0 Argentina

    Alex Scott
    Ex-England international on BBC One

We always knew this Argentina side would be stubborn, well organised and aggressive.

I'm not worried, I think we will see fatigue on from Argentina in the second half and the spaces will open up.

England are creating more chances and playing at a greater speed - that's what we need to see more of in the second half.

  19. 'We have lacked on the execution'published at 20:50 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    England 0-0 Argentina

    Emma Hayes
Chelsea Women manager on BBC Radio 5 live

If we don't score early in the second half then we have to work out who are the right subs to bring on. We have lacked on the execution.

  20. 'England will have to keep this up'published at 20:50 British Summer Time 14 June 2019

    England 0-0 Argentina

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live

Regarding Argentina, resilience is key for them in their gameplan.

England have been excellent at times. We knew they would have to be patient in their build-up - they will have to keep this up.
