  1. Real's (relative) struggles domesticallypublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2019

Real Madrid have dominated the Champions League for years (winning the past three, and another one two seasons earlier).

But they have only won one of the previous six La Liga titles.

And they have not reached a Copa del Rey final since 2013–14, when they beat Barca to win the cup.

  2. Barca - copa kings?published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2019

Barcelona have won the past four Spanish Cups, reaching the past five finals.

No side have ever won five in a row. Madrid (1905-1908) and Athletic Bilbao (1930-1933) also did four.

The last time anyone other than Real Madrid knocked Barca out of the Copa del Rey was 2009-10 (Sevilla).

And 2005-06 was the last time Barca went out before the semi-finals.

  3. The most successful failure ever?published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2019

Or the least popular hero ever?

It's hard to work out how Gareth Bale's time at Real Madrid will be remembered. Four Champions League titles, 101 goals and yet he never really seems to have settled.

He did a provocative celebration after scoring against Atletico Madrid - and was told today he will not be punished by the Spanish FA, ensuring he could play tonight.

When he scored the winner against Leganes at the weekend, he basically ignored his team-mates' celebrations.

Boss Santiago Solari was frustrated by the amount of Bale questions in the build-up to tonight's game.

"I understand everyone wants to find a focus and you put the focus where it seems important.

"But our focus is only on what we think is important. It is on the game, to win on Wednesday, to be united. Where others focus is up to them."

  4. What happened in the first leg?published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2019

Malcom's spectacular equaliser earned Barcelona a draw against Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.

Real went ahead through Lucas Vazquez in the sixth minute following a brilliant assist from Karim Benzema.

Holders Barcelona, who started without Lionel Messi, had stuttered in attack despite the efforts of a bright Malcom.

The former Bordeaux forward pounced for the equaliser in the 57th minute following a scrappy period of play which saw Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas block a charging run from Jordi Alba.

Real Madrid v Barcelona (20:00 GMT)

Two changes for Real Madrid from their 2-1 win over Levante. Sergio Ramos is back from suspension and takes over from Nacho. Keylor Navas starts, as he usually does in the Copa del Rey, with Thibaut Courtois dropping out.

Gareth Bale is on the bench, which is pretty standard these days.

Barcelona make three changes from their 4-2 win over Sevilla. Ousmane Dembele, Clement Lenglet and Sergi Roberto are in for Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and Arturo Vidal.

Lionel Messi keeps his place as you'd expect following his hat-trick on Saturday.

Real Madrid v Barcelona (20:00 GMT)

Real Madrid host Barcelona in Dos Clasicos this week - and today's Copa del Rey semi-final one is probably the most important.

The first leg ended 1-1 so a place in the final is really up for grabs for both teams.

Saturday's fixture - also at the Bernabeu - is in La Liga. Barca are seven points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, with Real another two points back.

  9. Two Clasicos in four days?!published at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2019

You can definitely have too much of a good thing. The £70 box of vegan marshmallows I got as a wedding present tested me to the limits.

After four Clasicos in 18 days back in 2011, I think we all needed a break.

But two Clasicos in four days? Yes please.
