We said what is Lennon going to do at half-time? He's done nothing. He's played exactly the same shape, same with the tempo, now they've lost that all-important goal and they've got to respond quickly

    Ryan Edwards

Ryan Edwards was so out of the picture at Hearts that he was sent out to St Mirren almost as soon as he signed and hardly featured for their Premiership rivals.

But the Australian midfielder strikes to give Hearts a surprise lead.

Arnaud Djoum's mishit shot finds team-mate Sean Clare 12 yards out and the former Ipswich Town man plays a clever backheel into the path of Edwards to fire low past goalkeeper Scott Bain.

The two Celtic full-backs are playing higher, almost as wingers. Scott Brown is lying deep in the middle in front of the centre-halfs to let them do that

Really good play down the side from Mulraney, two or three bodies in, but Jonny Hayes did really well to head it away at the back post - then got himself up the other end for the shot, but a rush of blood to the head for the shot though - end-to-end stuff

Jake Mulraney has delivered some dangerous crosses and this time he aims for three Hearts team-mates inside the penalty box.

However, although Jonny Hayes is the only Celtic defender there, the smallest man in the green and white hoops is there to head clear.

A heart-stopping moment for the Edinburgh side.

Jonny Hayes' low cross deflects towards John Souttar and the Hearts defender's attempted clearance hits Tom Rogic.

Unfortunately for the Celtic midfielder, it goes just wide for a goal kick.

I think, tactically, Hearts have been spot on. They have been brilliant and, yes, they deserve to dream. It is only another 45 minutes. You have to mention Aaron Hickey. At 16, he's been magnificent

It's not working at the moment for Celtic. They've been too slow, their tempo has not been up, it's all square passes again. They have to get the ball quicker to the wide guys

Celtic's thrust is coming down the wide areas. It's simply not been enough from Celtic. Craig Levein will be delighted with that first-half performance from Hearts. It's better than any of us expected

Neil Lennon's looking very agitated. He's been out on the edge of his technical area almost the whole of the first half. You've got to hand it to Hearts, but are they going to manage to keep that work-rate up?

  17. HALF-TIME Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Celticpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 25 May 2019

Well, if you thought it was going to be a walk in the Hampden Park for overwhelming favourites Celtic, you were very wrong.

Hearts, without a win in five games since winning their semi-final and on a run of three straight defeats, are giving as good as they are getting from the side chasing a third consecutive clean sweep of domestic honours.

You can't even say it has been the kind of rearguard action many would have predicted from Hearts. They have not only pressed high but broke quickly.

Chances, though, have been few and far between at both ends.

I would love to see how many touches Tom Rogic has had in this game so far. He has almost been a non-entity and Edouard hasn't really done much either. And that's down to the way Hearts have deployed themselves in this first-half
