The tunnel is not wide enough for the two sets of players this time and there's a line of marshals separating the two as they come out for the second half.

It has been near total dominance from Argentina but the sending offs will leave a sour taste on this match regardless of the result.

The funny thing is that both sets of players were all smiles in the tunnel beforehand, shaking hands and slapping backs.

    That friendly atmosphere quickly disappeared.

    Breaking

    Argentina 2-0 Chile

    Wow!

Both Gary Medel AND Lionel Messi are sent off!

    Incredible scenes.

Looking at the replay, it appears Lionel Messi gave Medel a nudge as they both chased a ball going out of play, Medel did not like that and put his face up against Messi's, the referee got involved and then sent them both off.

Was the more to it that we didn't see? Either way, huge moment and a brave call by the referee.

  16. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Argentina 2-0 Chile

Chile are being a little bit more adventurous now - they have to be really if they are to somehow get back into this. The danger, though, is they are leaving big gaps in defence that will have Lionel Messi champing at the bit to exploit.

  17. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Argentina 2-0 Chile

Ooof! Almost game over as Paulo Dybala stretches to meet a cross but stabs a volley the wrong side of the post.

Argentina look capable of scoring every time they go forward.

Keith Chapman: The problem with Messi - is that he is amazing but at Argentina most of his team mates aren't at the same level and it sees to me he hasn't found a great partnership at Argentina like he has at Barcelona!

  19. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Argentina 2-0 Chile

A rare chance to attack for Chile as they win a free kick midway inside the Argentina area. Charles Aranguiz sends the ball into the box but Argentina clear.

Suddenly there's a bit of commotion on the pitch and Arturo Vidal is shown a yellow card as he remonstrates with the referee. Kicking off a bit.

John McEnerney: Leo is outstanding but CR7 gets nod for his success on the international stage also he’s done the biz in the big 3 leagues in the world, no disrespect to CR7’s former teammates there has been some good ones but not like the quality LM has had with Arg & Barca IMO
