  1. 'It's all uphill for Man Utd'published at 16:00 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Manchester United 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

It was quite simple for Crystal Palace. There are lots of questions there. I think Harry Maguire was a bit slow to get back and cover. Luke Shaw made no attempt to cover his central defenders. It is all uphill from here for Manchester United.

  3. Ta'ra Fergiepublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

One of the most famous Manchester United banners was displayed the last time Crystal Palace won here.

It was 9 December, 1989 and discontent against Alex Ferguson was at its height.

As Palace secured a 2-1 win a fan unfurled a 'Ta'ra Fergie' banner.

United's board remained patient and were rewarded. United's fans need some patience today.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Jordan Ayew's goal against the run of play gives Palace a surprise lead at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big team talk to give here.

  5. Postpublished at 45+3 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Slow, turgid play from Manchester United, no creativity, no urgency.

Don't see which player is capable of unlocking the Palace backline.

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's very easy for Palace at the moment. It's just pass, pass, pass, pass - nobody is trying to take anyone on.

Five minutes added on because of the number of stoppages in the first half.

  8. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Final minute of the first half. United look a bit shellshocked after conceding that goal.

  9. 'That should be a red card'published at 15:42 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Martial is a lot quicker than Gary Cahill and he deliberately took him out. In the rules that should be a red card.

  10. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

This time Paul Pogba steps up for the free-kick from about 22 yards out, but the Frenchman curls his effort over.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 40 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Gary Cahill is a very, very lucky boy.

He comes across and barges over Anthony Martial from behind. Cahill was the last man but referee Paul Tierney issues just a yellow card.

    The United players want more.

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I've got to say it's a very good finish but where was Harry Maguire? He should have been on the cover but he was about 25 yards away.

  13. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Jordan Ayew only scored once in 20 Premier League appearances last season; this was his first goal of this season in just his second game.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 38 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Clever foul from Luka Milivojevic, bringing down Jesse Lingard close to the halfway line as the England international looked to break away.

  15. VERY CLOSE!published at 37 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Goodness me, Palace almost double their lead. In the end, they have too many men getting in each other's way.Three visiting see a loose ball drop in the six yard box, before Wilfried Zaha's low shot at the near post is smothered by David de Gea.

  16. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Sub Ashley Young almost makes an immediate impact but fires a low shot narrowly wide.

  17. Where's the cover?published at 15:36 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be happy with that.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire failed to get round the back of Victor Lindelof when he challenged for the initial header, so when Jeffrey Schlupp won it, Jordan Ayew had a clear run at goal.

It is the first time Manchester United have been behind this season.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 34 mins

    Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Luke Shaw cannot continue, on comes Ashley Young in his place.

  19. goal

GOAL - Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palacepublished at 32 mins

    Jordan Ayew

You just knew it would happen!

It is route one stuff from Crystal Palace, goalkeeper Vicente Guaita knocking it long and Jeffrey Schlupp beating Victor Lindelof to the header.

It sets Jordan Ayew free one on one with David de Gea and he produces a cool finish for Palace's first goal of the season.

Palace have had just 26% possession. Old Trafford is stunned.

Space down the left for Luke Shaw, that will test his hamstring.

    He looks OK.
