    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

Chris Wood hasn't scored yet this season but Brighton must be sick of the sight of him.

The New Zealand international helped them win the League One title when on loan with the Seagulls in 2010-11 but has since scored seven goals against them.

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

Ashley Barnes links up with his strike partner Chris Wood in the box but he's surrounded by Brighton defenders and can't make room for a shot before being dispossessed.

Half the field is in shade, with the shadow of the stand going straight down the middle of the pitch from one goal to the other. Could that affect the keepers' vision?

  5. Seagulls eager for Amex winpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

A win is perhaps more important for Brighton today as they have not won at the Amex since 2 March. They've had only one home win in the Premier League in 2019.

  6. Back to winning ways?published at 14:59 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

Although both sides started the campaign with 3-0 victories, wins have been hard to come by either side of the summer:

    • Brighton have won just two of their last 16 matches in all competitions.
    • Burnley have won just one of their last eight Premier League matches.

The Clarets won 3-1 at the Amex in February to do the double over the Seagulls last season - their previous five meetings were all draws.

The team news from Brighton has left many in the press box confused - Graham Potter said he wouldn’t change his side to suit Burnley but with four centre-backs on the pitch, and Glenn Murray and Neal Maupay both starting together for the first time, it looks as if we could see two teams playing 4-4-2 on a rare occasion in the Premier League.

No word yet on the absence of both Seagulls full-backs Martin Montoya and Bernardo - and also disappointment that we’re all by the seaside but the press box is in shade and has a distinctly autumnal feel!

Florin Andone has since joined Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

The Romanian striker, 26, signed for Brighton on a five-year deal from Deportivo La Coruna in June 2018.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter said: "We wish Florin well for the season ahead, we have the option of a recall in January and we will closely monitor his progress."

  9. Seagulls more expansivepublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Brighton have been more expansive under new manager Graham Potter and - like Burnley - they took four points from their first two games.

And despite then losing to Southampton and Manchester City, the Seagulls looked comfortable against their south coast rivals until Florin Andone's red card and were more adventurous than most teams at the Etihad, having 46.5% possession and creating chances of their own.

  10. Another top-seven finish?published at 14:51 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

Burnley's opening-day win over Southampton had Clarets fans dreaming of another top-seven finish after qualifying for last season's Europa League and it took a stoppage-time penalty to deny them another victory at Wolves.

Manager Sean Dyche was happy with his side's performance in defeat at Arsenal and they matched Liverpool until two goals late in the first half set the European champions on course for a 3-0 win last time out.

Although Danny Drinkwater made his Burnley debut in their EFL Cup defeat by Sunderland, the on-loan Chelsea midfielder is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Clarets.

After that nightclub altercation, he'll be out for two weeks due to ankle ligament damage so should be back in contention for next week's home game against Norwich or the following Saturday's trip to Aston Villa.

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    Burnley

Burnley are unchanged after losing 3-0 to Liverpool last time out, with winger Robbie Brady on the bench after returning from a rib injury.

Top scorer Ashley Barnes shrugged off a groin problem to remain in the starting XI while Johann Berg Gudmundsson failed to recover from a calf injury. Danny Drinkwater is out having injured his ankle in a nigthclub fight.
