  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 26 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Another fantastic save - this time from United's Dean Henderson.

The Manchester United loanee springs athletically to his left to tip Che Adams' header away from goal.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Ralph Hassenhuttl will be wish that chance fell for someone other than his full-back.

The Portuguese has just two goals in his previous 121 Saints appearances.

  3. CLOSE!published at 23 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

And now it's Southampton on the attack.

Sofiane Boufal turns away from his man in midfield and, after exchanging passes with Che Adams, plays in Cedric Soares on the right - but the right-back skews his shot wide.

  4. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

John Fleck with another chance for the Blades.

This time he drives in from the left and unleashes a powerful drive that's deflected into the side-netting.

    Southampton clear the resulting corner.

  5. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Southampton may have only taken one shot on goal so far but Blades keeper Dean Henderson has still had plenty to do.

His team-mates seem very happy to play it back to their keeper and, so far, he's dealt with everything pretty well.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Another chance goes begging for Sheffield United.

This time it's John Fleck who heads over from close range.

Will the Saints make them pay for these missed chances?

That was a decent couple of minutes or so - either side could have easily gone ahead.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Ooh David McGoldrick has to score here.

He's found by strike partner Oliver McBurnie in acres of space on the edge of the box, but Angus Gunn makes a good sprawling save to deny the Republic of Ireland striker.

Moments earlier, Sofiane Boufal struck the upright with a powerful strike at the other end.

  9. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Here they come though and good work from Sofiane Boufal sees them win a corner.

Dean Henderson easily saves Jannik Vestergaard's header from the set-piece.

A first shot on target from either side.

  10. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

Southampton weather the brief United storm and now it's the visitors who hold possession again.

Ralph Hassenhuttl's side seem pretty happy knocking it around the back at the moment.

  11. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

But the it's the Blades who have the first meaningful attack of the game.

Some nice one-touch play on the right sees Enda Stevens find himself in space on the edge of the box, but he can't find a team-mate.

  12. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

The Saints have had all the possession so far with the hosts struggling to get a foot on it.

They haven't done a lot with the ball yet, though.

  13. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

It's the visitors who make the brighter start but Moussa Djenepo's low cross is easily cleared by John Egan.

His delivery will need to be better than that if he's going to trouble the Blades backline today.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Southampton

We're under way at a sunny Bramall Lane.

  19. First meeting in five yearspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 14 September 2019

Sheff Utd v Southampton (15:00 BST)

This is the first meeting between these sides since 2014. That day, the League One Blades met top-flight Southampton in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The last time they met in a Premier League game? That's way back in March 1994.

Bramall Lane hosted a goalless draw that day - let's hope for a more exciting game today.

Sheff Utd v Southampton (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

I think Sheffield United's good start will continue this weekend. Southampton are another of the teams who have had some very mixed performances and results this season, which is why I am backing the Blades to pick up another three points.

    Prediction: 2-1
