Trent Alexander Arnold on Sky Sports: "Massive for us. We have come here in good form, tried to execute the game plan and bounced back from a set back in midweek and shown we are a good side.

"Hendo wanted the free-kick at first and then thought it was too close for him. I thought it was too close to go over the way, I had to go keeper's side, a good roll and tried to hit it as hard as I cam.

(On VAR) "It is a mental set back for the other team. you think you have scored, celebrate, get back in position and all of a sudden the goal has bee cancelled.

"You can't expect to come here and have it your own way. They are a proud side and were going to come out fighting. The last 25-30 mins was really tough."

Mark Futter: A good win for Liverpool. Their season looks really promising. Chelsea played brilliantly today. In the sense that the players want to play for the gaffer. Some Spurs individuals could learn a lot from that

The unlikely truth is that Liverpool's defence bailed out the front three today. Couldn't keep the ball second half but strong at the back.

Liverpool's game management was outstanding today. They nicked that 2-1 today, it must be satisfying. Chelsea created chances but just could not quite get the final game. They have character, they have a manager that believes in the players and players that believe in what the manager wants to do. They are dangerous in every game.
