    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

This is a tough one for Villa, because they need some points after only winning one of their first six games.

They are not doing badly, but just look a little short of confidence to me. It is hard to back against Burnley, because of what they are, and how they do it, but I think Dean Smith's side will edge it somehow.

    Prediction: 2-1

    Match of the Day commentator

Aston Villa ended their mini goal drought at Arsenal last Sunday but two other worrying trends developed; an inability to hold on to a lead and a failure to beat 10 men.

With just one win to their name, Dean Smith's side have slipped into the relegation zone and face a Burnley side who comfortably dispatched another Premier League newcomer a week ago.

Chris Wood scored the goals, Ashley Barnes spilt blood and everybody else wearing claret battled for the cause.

It's a very different test to the one Villa tackled at the Emirates but every bit as challenging.

  6. Two changes for Villa, Burnley unchangedpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 28 September 2019

Aston Villa v Burnley (15:00 BST)

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith makes two changes to the side who surrendered a two-goal lead at Arsenal last weekend.

Summer signing Matt Targett comes in to make his league debut for the club, as does Conor Hourihane, who netted against Brighton in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Neil Taylor and Trezeguet drop to the bench.

Aston Villa XI: Heaton; Guilbert, Engels, Mings, Targett; McGinn, Nakamba, Hourihane; Grealish, Wesley, El Ghazi.

Subs: Steer, Taylor, Ngoyo, Luiz, Jota, Davis, Trezeguet.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche names the same side who beat Norwich 2-0 last weekend.

Dwight McNeil shakes off a dead leg to start on the wing, while dangerous forward pairing Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes continue up top.

Iceland international Johann Berg Gudmundsson recovers from a calf problem to be named on the bench.

Burnley XI: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters; Hendrick, Westwood, Cork, McNeil; Barnes, Wood.

Subs: Hart, Gibson, Bardsley, Brady, Gudmundsson, Lennon, Rodriguez.
