Red Star Belgrade 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Always a bit worrying to see Harry Kane holding his ankle after a challenge but I think he's OK. Danny Rose now has a bang on the head as well. Walking wounded - all are fine though.

Son Heung-Min will be wanting that first touch to feel his way into the game. It's only normal after the Andre Gomes injury, what he saw and the media attention it received. The players were worried about him and they need to try and get him on the ball now.

All Tottenham so far, patient build up after patient build up before Harry Kane whistles a shot into the side-netting. He got all behind that!

    Atalanta 0-1 Manchester City

Gabriel Jesus to Raheem Sterling almost does the job again but the England man can't steer in this time, before Sterling is wrestled to the deck on halfway. A more convincing WWE move than Tyson Fury managed the other night.

Patient build-up down the right form Son and Harry Kane threatens to open up the Red Star defence but eventually the hosts get in line to clear it away.

    Raheem Sterling (7 mins)

    Beautiful.

That's a gem of a goal. I was watching a bit of a documentary about the Arsenal of old starring Wright and Bergkamp the other day and this is the sort of goal they used to score at will.

Bernardo Silva plays it in from the left, Gabriel Jesus flicks a backheel into the run of Raheem Sterling and he just flashes a shot into the corner. All three touches come in the blink of an eye. Mesmeric football.

It's comfortable for Spurs at the moment to try and kill the ball, kill the pressure and open the game up.

Juan Foyth does well on the right for Spurs but the move eventually breaks down. Red Star are pressing the visitors high and hard.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2019

    Atalanta 0-0 Manchester City

And there's a big chance! Hans Hateboer is free at the far post and shins a volley into the side netting. Should have done better, the Atalanta wing-back.

  11. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2019

    Atalanta 0-0 Manchester City

Atalanta played well in the return fixture at Eastlands for large periods, it certainly wasn't a 5-1 game, and they have started dominating the ball in their borrowed home this evening.

Gabriel Jesus makes a niggly foul on Alex Gomez.

You won't be surprised to learn that Spurs are playing a back four with Juan Foyth at right-back. Ignore that Uefa line-up.

It's all about Spurs tonight and they have to ignore this atmosphere and get on the ball. It is slightly more subdued at the moment but we all know it will get louder.

An excellent tifo welcomes/intimidates the players in Belgrade. Old school? I'll say.

  19. Why are we at San Siro?published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2019

Atalanta v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

The eagle eyed among you will have noticed that this game is being played in Milan, and not at Atalanta's Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

    Why so?

Two games in two nights for San Siro

Well quite simply the old ground is not up to scratch. It hasn't got a roof for a start, it has bad views - it's old, alright?

It is being renovated though, and no doubt ruined. In the meantime it's a 40-mile drive down the E64 to the home of AC and Inter.

  20. 'It is what it is'published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2019

Atalanta v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport: "The focus is to have a good game against a team that is doing well in the last few seasons here in Italy - especially the way they defend and attack. Of course we will try to get points."

On the injuries in his squad: "We cannot deny we have a lot of problems. It is what it is. We would like to be with the whole squad but we look forward. The players that we have we trust a lot. If I didn't trust the players they would not be here. I know them, we know each other and I'm delighted to be with them."

On whether he had one eye on the Liverpool game: "No way. I understand for the British media how important the game on Sunday is. I know the Champions League is not so important for our club maybe but I don't know... we try to do a good game."
