Luke Thorsblood: Managing Manchester United, Used to get you knighted, But that was long ago, Now it's just the "heave ho", And the results are all but blighted.

Aditya Thakkar: Salzburg scored 3 at Anfield. Brugge scored 2 at Bernabau. And Manchester United can't score even one at Alkmaar. Really shows just how bad a team they have become. The worst part is I'm not even comparing them here to Europe's top clubs.

Paul: Blaming the pitch is nonsense. seen pitches a lot worse than this. these pampered players should play on some of the pitches they had in the 60s and 70s... Utd are struggling because Utd are rubbish. no other reason.

    Manchester United are awful.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 3 October 2019

    AZ Alkmaar 0-0 Man Utd

Another shout for handball from the home supporters.

United youngster Brandon Williams knows nothing about it as Oussama Idrissi's comes off his arm and towards the goal, as David de Gea scoops it up on the line.

Would have been harsh to give that.

When are United going to bother closing Yukinari Sugawara down??

    Unbelievable.

The full-back has so much time and space again to drill in a low cross which Dani de Wit comes close to converting.

Tom Dee: Plastic pitches should be banned from competitions!

    Dire from Manchester United.

Marcos Rojo leaves it for Nemanja Matic, Matic leaves it for Rojo and it ends up with Fred's pass rolling straight out of play.

And these are the experienced members for the side.

Marc Selby: Roses are red, Violets are blue, Arsenal will score, But so will you.

Michael Devlin: United look quite bad tonight; some are blaming the pitch. But If we play this way for the next few weeks, our season will be in the ditch.

The excellent Yukinari Sugawara causing problems again.

The Alkmaar full-back whips in a cross which bounces off the pitch and causes Diogo Dalot issues as the ball comes off the Portuguese player's chest.

The home fans cry for a penalty but referee Gediminas Mazeika waves the protests away.

Ricky Lee Everett: It's painful to watch United these days, it's borderline depressing. Poor surface or not, I don't see any sign that these players will be improving the starting XI anytime soon.

Francis Edwards: Either Ozil his weekly tummy ache again or Emery has finally decided to just give up on him. Right decision if so - he is the most negative human being I have ever met.
