While this is their first WSL meeting, these two teams did face one another in last term's League Cup group stage.

It's Manchester United's Casey Stoney who is the more frustrated manager. She was screaming "press!" at her forwards a few minutes ago and was signalling for more width shortly afterwards.

A sloppy mistake at the back gifted the ball to Courtney Sweetman-Kirk just then but last season's Liverpool top scorer went for the audacious chip instead of playing it through to team-mate Rinsola Babajide, who was free on the left.

There's a nervous moment at the back for the hosts as Rinsola Babajide chases down a bouncing ball, but United keeper Mary Earps does well to come out of her area fast enough and head the ball clear, getting there just in front of the Liverpool forward.

Now Liverpool's most dangerous move so far sees Rinsola Babajide head over the.bar from inside the box. It's livening up a bit.

The best move of the game so far leads to a shooting chance for Man Utd skipper Katie Zelem, just outside the area.

But the former Juventus midfielder's low strike deflects wide.

Liverpool winger Rinsola Babajide miss-hits a cross straight at Mary Earps at one end, and then Man Utd force a corner through Jess Sigsworth down at the other end.

The corner goes past everybody and across to the far side.

Hosts Manchester United make two changes, as Lotta Okvist comes in for Amy Turner at the back and Lauren James replaces striker Jane Ross, who is ill. The Netherlands midfielder Jackie Groenen is still not 100% fit for the hosts, so remains out.

Visitors Liverpool also change two, as Rhiannon Roberts and Rinsola Babajide start in place of Jade Bailey and Jess Clarke.

Manchester United boss Casey Stoney talks in her matchday programme notes about how "impressed" she has been with her side in their opening two games of the WSL season.

Narrow defeats against Manchester City and Arsenal have not dampened her spirits as she praises keeper Mary Earps, who joined from Wolfsburg in the summer.

"She showed exactly why she should be pushing to be England's number one [against Arsenal]. She kicks well, distributes well, makes big saves in big moments and it was an all-round outstanding performance from her."

Meanwhile, United have also lost both of their opening games 1-0, but they've faced last year's top two in Man City and Arsenal.
