    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Are Spurs heading towards their fifth defeat in six games (including penalties)?

Are Watford heading towards a first Premier League win of the season?

  4. Time for PL to tweak VAR rules?published at 15:51 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

A lot of you on Twitter seem to agree with me that it should have been a Watford penalty.

Does the Premier League need to change its VAR interpretation where there needs to be a really high bar for overturning a decision?

I think so. What's the point of having video technology if you end up making the wrong decision half the time.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

There are some boos from Spurs fans as the half-time whistle goes.

  6. Postpublished at 45+2 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford have a throw-in as we close in on half-time. Again, no rush from the Hornets.

  7. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Spurs are trying and failing to get the ball into the box. They're overcomplicating everything and Serge Aurier just runs the ball out of play.

  8. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen leaves his arm in the face of goalscorer Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The referee lets play go on initially but then stops it because it's a head injury. Although to be honest there was barely any contact or injury.

  9. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford have pace on the counter but Gerard Deulofeu's pass to Roberto Pereyra is cut out.

  10. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 19 October 2019

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Just thinking back to that Watford penalty appeal. I've got no doubt that if Chris Kavanagh had given the penalty, then the VAR team would have agreed with him.

  11. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford keeper Ben Foster is out of his box to head clear, but the offside flag had already gone up against Lucas Moura.

And now he takes his time to boot his free-kick clear.

  12. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Spurs' fourth attempt of the half as Toby Alderweireld crosses and Lucas Moura heads over. A half-chance at best.

  13. VAR

Video Assistant Refereepublished at 39 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

The VAR team have a look and - surprise, surprise - don't change the referee's decision.

That really could have been a penalty. Lucky escape for Spurs.

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 38 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford want a penalty. Gerard Deulofeu bursts into the box and goes past the sliding Jan Vertonghen. He goes over the defender's foot and goes down.

    The referee says no.

  15. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster is definitely going to get booked for timewasting in this game. He takes an age over the goal-kick.

  16. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

A decent spell of Spurs possession and Watford just hack it clear. A huge roar from the home fans, but now Serge Aurier fails to keep in a Harry Kane cross.

  17. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

A few of Spurs' subs, including Son Heung-min, are warming up already. Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes today - only two were enforced.

  18. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

The crowd roar as space opens up for Dele Alli with Daryl Janmaat further up the pitch. But this is a team short on confidence and Alli tries to find a team-mate, with Harry Winks failing to shoot.

  19. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Spurs need to sort their crossing out. Serge Aurier's latest attempt is easily cleared. Not that the hosts are having much success through the centre either.

  20. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Spurs 0-1 Watford

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has just done almost a Cruyff turn* on the ball to lose a Spurs striker. The away fans enjoyed that one.

    * it was just a regular turn
