As I've already mentioned, we begin today at The Valley, where Neil Harris will be taking charge of his first match as Cardiff City manager.

The former Millwall boss has replaced Neil Warnock, who parted company with the Bluebirds following their 1-0 home defeat by Bristol City.

Harris was in attendance as Wales beat Hungary to qualify for Euro 2020 on Wednesday - and has said this week that he hopes to tap into that feel-good factor.

"I think that's lifted everybody in the vicinity," he said. "Hopefully we take that goodwill and good spirit into the weekend at Charlton."

    Friday: Fulham 2-1 QPR

This round of English Football League fixtures got under way last night, as stand-in striker Aboubakar Kamara scored twice to give Fulham victory over Queens Park Rangers to move up to fourth in the Championship table.

Kamara, brought in to replace suspended top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic, coolly took his chances after Rangers stunned the hosts with an early goal.

We start off at The Valley this afternoon as Charlton Athletic host Cardiff City, with nine more Championship matches kicking-off at 15:00 GMT.

Leaders West Bromwich Albion host Sheffield Wednesday, as the Baggies look to stretch their unbeaten run to seven league games.

Two points behind them are Preston North End, who travel to Derby County in search of a fourth win in a row.

Leeds United are level on points in third and head to Kenilworth Road to face a woefully out-of-form Luton Town.

At the bottom, new Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber will get his first taste of Championship action at Blackburn Rovers.

Now, I operate a strict no decorations before December policy in my house so, rest assured, that'll be my first and last mention of Christmas festivities this afternoon.

Of course, not everyone is quite as disciplined. Queens Park Rangers have been selling these jumpers since October. Shouldn't really be allowed, should it?

Anyway, here's what we've got coming up this afternoon...

Hands up if you like international breaks?! No, me neither.

The good news, however, is that after another two-week pause the Championship is back - and, in many respects, this is where the festive mayhem starts.

Between now and FA Cup third-round weekend, every second-tier side is scheduled to play a whopping 11 fixtures. That's more than one game every four days up until the first Saturday of January. Bonkers.

    We better get cracking, then.
