It was an enthralling game. We knew Liverpool would dominate but Villa put up an enormous fight and got in front. Liverpool are a class side and they showed that again.

That’s the sign of a very good team. From Villa’s point of view they will say: 'who is marking Mane?' He has not even jumped, gets ahead of everybody and the ball goes into the side netting. It is lack of concentration but you need to give Liverpool credit.

    Liverpool

Andy Robertson, speaking to Sky Sports: "We have showed our resilience over the last 18 months and this season we have kept on going.

"Today we knew we had some great chances and there’s nothing better than a last minute winner.

"Aston Villa are a team that just got promoted and pushed us to the end, we know we need to be at our best every single game."

Liverpool's match-winner Sadio Mane: "Today was not our best performance but we deserved the three points.

"It was a perfect delivery from the corner and in the end I was even a bit lucky the ball went in.

"Aston Villa have been the team that pushed us harder so far, that’s why this is the best league in the world. Every single game can be like this one."

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on Final Score

One of the best signings of the summer was Tom Heaton to Aston Villa.

What a great, great signing that was and he's just pulled off a really good save. He spreads himself Schmeichel-esque. However, I'm expecting Sadio Mane to score there.

Three shots in quick succession for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - ALL blocked by the Aston Villa defence.

The midfielder's original shot is brilliantly blocked by Bjorn Engels, with Tyrone Mings and Matt Targett throwing themselves in front of the two follow-up efforts.

    Magnificent defending by the hosts!
