Arsenal's best half of the season. Defence focused, slick passing, Aubameyang and Lacazette looking dangerous, Ozil looking interested. Can I stop watching through laced fingers?

    David:

Just realised if we (Chelsea) lose this game that will be our 8th loss of the season - the same amount as the whole of last season. Sarri not looking so bad now.

    Sean in London

Arsenal returning to their former ways, the players finally playing like they want to be here.

Luke: These Chelsea players are awful. Not one could get into this Arsenal side today. Never seen a side so awful at tackling and only tactic is to bring down the opposition at every opportunity. Pretty embarrassing tactics from Chelsea and their players.

Wayne Ellis: This is as poor as I’ve seen from Chelsea this season. Getting comprehensively outclassed in every area.

Charles Igwe: Funny how Frank Lampard and his average Chelsea team have finally run out of ideas, and have no intensity to the game. Enjoy your top four position this December, it'll probably be your last for this season.

  8. 'Arteta making the difference'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The difference we can see is the Arsenal players to a man are working exceptionally hard. It is very early days for Mike Arteta but he has made the difference. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, it's only his second game in charge. He saw a Manchester City team demolish Arsenal here and we have seen the opposite today. Chelsea have probed but not really had any chances. Absolutely nothing to speak of. Arsenal have been the better team.

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Mesut Ozil wants to play for Mikel Arteta. I'm not sure it was the same in the previous regime. I think you can say it's a smart move by the new Arsenal manager and the new regime to get him on board. Chelsea, though, are lacking ideas. They have been poor so far.

  12. Chelsea looking betterpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Phil McNulty

Chelsea have improved since Frank Lampard made the change - although you can hardly call that praise as they could not have got any worse.

As bad as our performance was against Southampton, this is even worse from Chelsea. Absolutely appalling performance from every single player.

Matteo Guendouzi loses the ball 10 yards outside his area - it results in a corner.

Tammy Abraham complains that he was nudged in the back by the French midfielder in the build-up - VAR thinks otherwise.

From the resulting corner, Blues defender Kurt Zouma finds himself at the far post and miskicks the ball.

A good few moments for the visitors.

  20. 'Proper London derby'published at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2019

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have been energetic, organised and deserve to be in front. Chelsea have looked rattled so far. This is a proper London derby, though. Lots of strong challenges from both sides. Emmerson being taken off? He doesn't look injured so I think it's Frank Lampard acknowledging he got it tactically wrong and he's changed it.
