You'll see in the team news below that Christian Benteke is a surprise omission from the Crystal Palace squad.

Roy Hodgson has been speaking before kick-off and says the striker has a muscle strain that will keep him out of action for a few weeks.

The Hammers have had a 12-day break since their last game.

They were due to play Liverpool last time out but that game was postponed due to the Reds exploits in the Club World Cup.

Manuel Pellegrini's side won their last game 1-0 at Southampton but still start today just two places above the drop zone.

Or will West Ham gain another much needed win?

Crystal Palace v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace make just a couple of changes from their 1-0 loss at Newcastle last time out.

Mamadou Sakho is back from injury which sees Cheikhou Kouyate's move back into his preferred position in central midfield while James McCarthy drops to the bench.

Elsewhere, Max Meyer replaces Christian Benteke with the Belgian not in the Palace squad.

Crystal Palace: Guaita (GK), Van Aanholt, Milivojevic, Tomkins, Meyer, Kouyate, J Ayew, Zaha, Sakho, McArthur, Kelly.

Subs: Hennessey (GK), Wickham, McCarthy, Camarasa, Woods, Keutcha, Riedewald.

    West Ham

The most interesting team news comes from West Ham with Manuel Pellegrini having to turn back to goalkeeper Roberto because neither Lukasz Fabianski or David Martin have recovered from injuries.

The Spaniard has conceded 19 goals in nine games this season and was dropped after a number of costly errors earlier in the season.

Pablo Zabaleta replaces Ryan Fredericks at right-back in the only other change.

Manuel Lanzini and Felipe Anderson are back on the bench after absences through injury and illness respectively.

West Ham: Roberto (GK), Cresswell, Balbuena, Zabaleta, Snodgrass, Noble, Fornals, Ogbonna, Haller, Antonio, Rice.

Subs: Anang (GK), Anderson, Lanzini, Sánchez, Diop, Masuaku, Ajeti.
