  1. 'It will feel like home tournament'published at 18:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    BBC Two

Former England striker Alan Shearer: "I think Gareth will be delighted with that draw. It's a team he knows well and they have played recently. He will be quietly confident they can get out of the group and do well in the tournament. In terms of Gareth doing his homework he'll know everything already. He will feel good, absolutely.

"Having played in Euro 96 with that home advantage, we didn't get off to a great start but slowly and surely we felt the crowd with us. That will be a big advantage to play those games at Wembley. It will feel like a home tournament. Wembley is a special place when the fans get behind you and England will use it."

England are a better side now. They have developed so much over the years. They have benefited from Gareth Southgate over time and they have so many young talented players coming through.

On facing Croatia after the World Cup semi-final defeat:

You always have it in the back of your mind as a player. It's difficult because the team is always changing. It's the media's fault at times because they are always pushing the next best thing. England might have a solid team but then you have all these young players coming through. The England team is stronger now than it was then. Croatia like to deal with the ball well but if we get them on the counter-attack, I think England have one of the best forward lines in the world.

James: Ouch. Can't see England getting too far in the Euros now. Challenging group followed by a likely horror last 16 tie.

JayJay: Is nobody contemplating the possibility of Serbia (if they win the play off) facing Croatia in Glasgow?

This is only the second major tournament where the world champions meet the European champions in the group phase.

At Euro 1992, Netherlands met Germany in the group stage.

Wales' staff will have experts looking at what is logistically the best strategy to prepare for those fixtures. I remember playing Azerbajan with Wales and you look at everything that can help you. The Welsh squad will be looking at that to make sure they are in the best possible frame of mind and physically ready to go.

Wales will be lucky to finish in the top two.

    Don’t underestimate the Swiss.

  9. 'Turkey produce high quality players'published at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Mark Hughes
Former Wales manager on BBC Two

Turkey are a side who have good technical ability. They produce high quality players. They are lacking up front but it’s not going to be an easy fixture. From Wales point of view, we have to be happy with that draw, it could have been so much worse.

Let's just take one game at time. If Scotland go through it's like a derby and anything can happen in those games. England will be happy with the draw. But you can't foresee what happens in the future.

  11. 'The first game sets the tone'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Mark Hughes
Former Wales manager on BBC Two

You cannot manipulate the group. The first game of the tournament is really important because it sets the tone for the whole group games. If England win that first game, then they are going out to win but if they do not then they might be trying to avoid a last 16 game against someone from Group F.

Daryl Wing: Win the playoff for your chance to get humiliated by France, Germany and Portugal

Phil: A Euro 2020 group with the winners of the last 3 major champs seems exciting... until you realise all 3 can (and probably will) still qualify for the next round

  14. 'Wales should be happy'published at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Mark Hughes
Former Wales manager on BBC Two

Wales will happy with that group. There are good games and whenever you look at who they could have had they should be happy with that. I mean look at Group F - they could have had one of them teams.

  16. Better to finish second in group?published at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Mark Chapman has just made an excellent point on the BBC Two coverage.

If England win their group, they will face the runners-up of Germany, France, Portugal in the last 16.

If England finish second in their group, they face the runners-up of Spain, Poland, Sweden and maybe Northern or the Republic of Ireland.

Just got a flashback to the World Cup there...

Slight disclaimer - four of the six third-placed sides go through, so Germany, France and Portugal could all go through.
