Oxford United had done well before Manchester City's goal and Tarique Fosu has shown some very nice touches. The Kassam Stadium is understandably a little subdued after that deflected Cancelo strike.

Leicester still dominating the ball, Bernard went down in a heap holding his ankle but he's OK.

Super slick from Man City. Cancelo travels all the way from his half, gets his shot away, it deflects into the top corner. Great build-up.

We await a Carabao goal as Marcus Rashford hits in another good free-kick which Dean Gerken spills, but just about gathers at the second attempt.

Better from Oxford as dangerman Tariqe Fosu worms into the area and puts in a low cross/shot - Eric Garcia clears.

Riyad Mahrez with a brilliant ball across the goal and Rob Dickie with some heroic defending under his own crossbar to clear. Oxford cannot get hold of the ball at all.

Close! Leicester have the best chance yet as Ricardo powers down the right and cuts it back for Ayoze Perez, who leans back and smashes over.

He's getting the hang of these isn't he, Marcus Rashford twangs a free-kick from the angle of the penalty area narrowly, narrowly wide!

It's a filthy night in Oxford, with rain and a swirling wind but manager Karl Robinson will be happy with the start his League One side have made.

Oxford United are putting City under pressure and making it competitive. City will want to get their passing game going a bit more.

City slickers, they free left-back Angelino into that familiar pocket of space just outside the area but his cross is shut down. From the corner, Phil Foden puts a good ball in but Josh Ruffels defends well at the far post.

It's setlled down a bit, Leicester seeing more of the possession now. Duncan will want a bit more up and at 'em stuff.

Claudio Bravo can usually be relied upon for comedy value, and he shanks a ball out of play when trying to dink it out to right-back Joao Cancelo. Tough for the defender.

Everton have started well, Richarlison pokes the ball around Kasper Schmeichel but the Leicester defence are able to get back and clear.

Phil Foden, making a third straight start for City, wins a free-kick in midfield. Foden scored at Oxford a year or so ago if my sketchy memory serves.

Raheem Sterling is lining up the free-kick from a mile out. And puts it well, well wide.

Everton win an early corner which Dominic Calvert-Lewin heads wide, before Kasper Schmeichel has to be alert to sweep up from Alex Iwobi. Lively start.

Manchester City legend and club ambassador Mike Summerbee and former Oxford United player Jeremy Charles laid a bouquet and a wreath at one end of the stadium, and there is also a mural behind the goal commemorating Jim Smith's achievements.

Current manager Karl Robinson described Smith as "the most iconic figure in the club's history."
