When I worked on the Sunday before Christmas last season, I got to cover Aston Villa 2-3 Leeds, as the visitors came from behind to win a five-goal thriller with a last-minute goal.

So far today, it seems the footballing Gods and the rota Gods have tried to balance things back up a bit. This has been a very, very different kind of game...

With half an hour to go, as the score stands, Sheffield Wednesday could move above Swansea on goal-difference in to sixth in the table.

But both of these sides want all three points.

Bristol City carve out their best move of the half and, after it initially breaks down, they then carve out their best chance since the opening minute.

Jack Hunt jumps well at the far post to head towards goal, but Liam Palmer is in the right place at the right time to head it off the line.

The Owls' Liam Palmer dinks a cross to the back post but Atdhe Nuhiu - under the challenge of Taylor Moore - can't quite connect with it cleanly.

Kadeem Harris hits a free-kick straight at the Bristol City wall. As the ball bounces back to him, he curls a shot straight in to the arms of Daniel Bentley.

Moments later, Bentley does very, very well to make a key block from Adam Reach's shot.

The Owls win the second half's first corner, which they play to the edge of the area in to the path of Adam Reach, who is unmarked after peeling off his man, but Reach clips his shot way, way over the bar.

The home side get this game back under way.

The visitors did not have a shot on target in the first half, and only had one notable one off target. That came 15 seconds after kick-off.

The players are back out for the second half at Hillsborough, where the sun is peaking through.

Can either side liven things up after the restart?

In case you missed it, West Brom moved three points clear at the top of the Championship yesterday as they drew at home to Brentford.

Leeds stay second but were beaten away at Fulham, who climbed to third, nine points behind Leeds and 12 behind the Baggies.

Meanwhile, Barnsley moved off the bottom of the table as they won late at Millwall.

Bristol City came in to this game off the back of two straight defeats. They haven't lost three in a row since November 2018.

You'd have to say they've been slightly second best here, certainly in the past 15 minutes or so.

City's Famara Diedhiou jumps for a header a lot later than Tom Lees and clatters in to Lees. The home fans don't like that. The referee just has a word with the Senegal striker.

Daniel Bentley is alert and pulls off a smart stop to keep out Kadeem Harris' low strike from the left side of the area, after Harris jinked in to space in the box.

Moments later, Liam Palmer's effort is saved too.

The hosts are having their best spell so far.
