Sheffield United are defending very deep towards the end of this half, keeping Brighton at arm's length, and the hosts are finding it hard to work a route through the bright yellow wall of the visitors.

Brighton look like they might have switched to a back three, at least when in possession. Like for like with the Blades.

Lewis Dunk goes strolling into the visitors' half but his deep delivery cannot find a team-mate.

Sheffield United play some nice football at times, but Chris Wilder's side aren't afraid to go direct either. And their best opportunities so far, including the goal, have come from getting it forward to the front two nice and quickly.

Really good finish by Oli McBurnie - he held off the defender well before firing into the bottom corner.

McBurnie did really well there to out-muscle Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster, but the Brighton defenders will be disappointed. Looking a little shaky, the Seagulls.

Assumed he was going to go for power, the Brighton defender, who has previously scored a free-kick for the Seagulls... but instead Lewis Dunk looks to dink it and it sails harmlessly over the bar. No idea what he was trying there.

Another chance here for Brighton as Lewis Dunk, yes Lewis Dunk, lines up a free-kick from about 35 yards out...

Brighton string a neat move together for the first time this match and Neal Maupay tucks it in from close range, but there was an offside earlier in the move as the ball came back out to Martin Montoya following Davy Propper's shot.

Better from the hosts. Easy finish for Maupay, but Montoya was definitely off.

Oliver Norwood doing a Renato Sanches, pinging a pass out of play after I can only imagine he saw a substitute warming up or something bright flash up on the advertising boards.

Side-netting! Nice swivel from John Lundstram, who spins in the box and works the ball on to his left foot, but his fierce effort can't find the target. Had a few Brighton fans on the other side of the ground worried...

Lovely turn form David McGoldrick, selling Dale Stephens a massive dummy for Christmas.

He's brought down inside his own half and the Blades can throw bodies forward.

Graham Potter looks a little concerned by his side's start to the match and is barking instructions to his Brighton players from the touchline, lots of hand movements - like a conductor at the Royal Albert Hall.

Must say, that VAR check was nice and quick.

Brighton have been unable to really get hold of the ball in the opening stages, a few misplaced passes have seen the visitors enjoy more possession.

Luke Freeman scampers to the byline but his pull-back is hooked away by a Seagulls defender. George Baldock attacks down the same flank and wins the Blades a corner.

The Blades get it down and we witness a first sight of their famous overlapping centre-backs as Jack O'Connell gets down the line to fizz in a cross, but Brighton deal with it comfortably with Oliver McBurnie and David McGoldrick lurking for the visitors.
