    Quote Message

You can see that they're up for it - it's been crisp, it's been sharp. Very positive in the early stages

    Scotland 0-0 Czech Republic

A sniff of a chance for Scotland's John McGinn as the Czechs fail to deal with a long throw-in but a defender in white gets in a block.

Corner to Scotland. Cleared without any fuss...

  4. Hampden roarpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    Scott Mullen
    BBC Scotland at Hampden

Predictably, the Scotland fans haven't shut up. With every Scotland attack they crank it up. Even a poor touch from Stephen O'Donnell is met with sympathetic applause and encouragement.

Meanwhile, Steve Clarke patrols the edge of his dugout with his hands clasped behind his back, slowly pacing back and forth. All going to plan so far...

Noticing right away that Ryan Christie is right up there, high up the pitch and John McGinn is trying to get up there with them as well

Scotland on the front foot straight away, but two crosses into the box fail to bother the Czechs.

    National anthem time.

Uh-oh, an embarrassing mix-up as Flower of Scotland is played out instead of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie. The Scotland lads put on a brave face and sing along, with the players and crowd fairly belting it out.

    Scotland's overall record at Hampden is W135 D63 L60.

No, I didn’t count them all up, Uefa have kindly done that for us. I can attest to the fact we are unbeaten in our last six games at the national stadium (W4 D2).

Take it all back, DJ is now a legend.

A bit of Baccara and the roof feels as if it's about to blow off. Feels weird knowing this is the first time it's properly been sung at a Scotland game.

For the sake of wee donkey, don't turn it off...

  14. Robertson 'a real leader' for Scotlandpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    Scotland v Czech Republic (14:00)

    Kenny McLean
Scotland international midfielder on BBC One

    Quote Message

Andy Robertson got the captaincy at first I think because of his performances, but he has grown into the role and is a real leader now

  15. 'Still a very good Scotland side'published at 13:52 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    Scotland v Czech Republic (14:00)

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer at Hampden

Kieran Tierney’s loss is a major blow to Scotland’s defence and attack but this is still a good side. Stuart Armstrong’s inclusion is no surprise to me. He was very clever going forward against the Netherlands - and very physical. I imagine Lyndon Dykes gets the nod because he’s a big unit. There are 12,000 people making a tremendous racket here at Hampden. Top notch.

    Scotland v Czech Republic (14:00)

Scotland have picked up one victory in each of their two previous European Championship appearances, with both wins coming in the final group stage match (3-0 v CIS in 1992, 1-0 v Switzerland in 1996).

In ‘92, we opened with a 1-0 defeat to the Netherlands, while four years later the first group game was a 0-0 draw against the same opposition.

    Billy Dodds
Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

When you go out there, don't go 100 miles an hour, have some focus and control. It's so important to not get caught up in the occasion - use the adrenaline to give you that extra yard and extra edge. It's going to take a bit of patience, but also that focus and edge to get the three points.
