Okay, I've run out of steam on a crushingly disappointing day for Scotland. You can carry on listening to Off The Ball until 19:00 BST.

A defeat at home to the Czechs leaves Scotland with something of a mountain to climb but it ain't over yet. Steve Clarke takes his squad to Wembley to meet England on Friday and they conclude Group D against Croatia at Hampden.

Join us for those games and don't forget there is a Euros Breakfast Show every week day on BBC Radio Scotland from 07:30-10:00.

Thanks for your company and keep the faith for a bit longer...

The good thing about his format is that some third place teams will qualify. You saw that from the last one, where Northern Ireland lost their first two and won their last one to qualify. Portugal drew their three group games, qualified and won the tournament. I'm not ruling those lads out - I still believe in this team

I would play 3-4-3 against England, with Hanley, Cooper, and Tierney, if he's fit. My four across the middle would be O'Donnell, McTominay, Gilmour and Robertson. Then I'd have McGinn and Armstrong behind Adams. That's with Gordon in goal too.

  10. Too much too young?published at 18:04 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

Billy Gilmour has just turned 20 and has played a total of 29 minutes for Scotland against 10-man Luxembourg.

The wee midfielder has made five league starts for Chelsea.

Is it fair to expect him to turn things round? Is it fair on the experienced players Steve Clarke has in the middle of the pitch?

Use the thumbs below if you think he should be starting against England on Friday.

Billy Gilmour demands the ball off the defenders and takes it in tight areas. Scotland need someone in there who can bring it down and control the game.

So after 23 years in the major tournament wilderness, Scotland are back - but unfortunately not with a bang.

The last Scotland manager to take the men's team to a major tournament, Craig Brown, tells Radio Scotland's Drivetime: "The game turned on the ability of one player.

"We're talking about a guy who went for £40m, I think, to Roma, then from Roma to Leverkeusen for half price. So the half price £20m man Schick up front was the difference between the two teams.

"We were very unfortunate in that we missed some very good chances."

Some more of your Twitter musings...

Kenny Stewart: We made a lot of chances. If we had anyone on the pitch capable of taking them, we’d have been grand.

Sofa Manager: Too slow to make changes and recognise O’Donnell was so far out his depth. To not start Che Adams was also criminal.

Loneranger72: Poor selection. Too many off form players expected to step up. Patterson clearly better than O’Donnell. Christie been off form all season. Subs were chaotic at best. Shambles. Back 5 all over the place. England’s forwards will be licking their lips.

Denis Maxwell: Big players never influenced the game, McGinn on the deck continuously, McTominay marked space mostly, too deep, midfield on the whole disappointing. Steve Clarke needs to show now it's not all been luck.

One top class finish and a world class goal. If that's Ronaldo or Messi, Lewandowski, we'd be talking about that for weeks to come. That was unbelievable. Just to have that ambition on the big stage.

    Quote Message

My memory from this will be that I've witnessed one of the most special goals you're ever going to see. I didn't realise how far off his line David Marshall was, but even then, if the shot isn't perfect, then he saves it. The execution, the way he's curled it over the top of Marshall, is sensational.

Patrik Schick was the difference between the teams and we could have done with some finishing like that. Two different kinds of goals and that shows his quality

  19. 'The second goal finished the job'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    FT: Scotland 0-2 Czech Republic

A wee bit more from delighted Czech Republic head coach Jaroslav Silhavy: "The decisive factor was that we survived the early pressure from Scotland. Then we got into the game and scored the opening goal. The second goal from calmed us down and finished the job."

  20. Czech boss has 'big thank you' for keeper Vaclikpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 14 June 2021

    FT: Scotland 0-2 Czech Republic

Scotland defender Jack Hendry hit the crossbar with a curling shot, while Tomas Vaclík made two really good saves; clawing away a looping ball to prevent an own goal and sticking out a leg to deny Lyndon Dykes.

The Czech keeper made another block from Dykes and tipped over a rising shot from Andy Robertson.

"The performance of Tomas Vaclik was simply excellent," said delighted manager Jaroslav Silhavy. "He contributed greatly to our win. He deserves a big thank you from us all."
