  1. CLOSE!

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

Out of nowhere, a brilliant chance for Croatia.

A corner from the near side is worked to the edge of the box with Ivan Perisic loitering. He catches the ball flush first time, but it's right down the throat of Tomas Vaclik.

  2. Euro 2020 format is 'hugely complicated'

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

    Petr Cech

Former Czech Republic goalkeeper on BBC One

I'm surprised because Scotland and England share the group a little. With today's games I thought England would be playing at Hampden with Croatia and Czech Republic at Wembley which would have made two games for England and Scotland at home.

When you host a tournament in the previous format you know that one team will benefit from it, or two teams. Now we have groups where if you look at the Italy group where Switzerland flies to Baku and Rome and Baku and Rome, it's a huge disadvantage and this is a hugely complicated format.

  3. CLOSE!

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

A huge let off for Croatia!

Again, the build-up play from the Czech Republic is superb. A tremendous cross from Jakub Jankto goes all the way across goal, Coufal lays the ball back to Patrik Schick, who fluffs his shot.

He must only score with his feet from over 40 yards.

Simon Atkins: I couldn't envisage Croatia not qualifying for the knockout rounds, based on the teams in the group. However, if Croatia play how they did against us [England], Czech Republic could easily put on a shock here.

  5. Czechs on top

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

Closing on 15 minutes gone and Croatia are yet to have a touch in the Czech Republic box.

Here are the two touchmaps (Croatia on the left).

  6. Goals to come?

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

You feel there's goals in this one...

A Dejan Lovren 25-yard free-kick flies way over the bar at one end, while some neat build-up play ends with Jakub Jankto lashing a volley even higher.

Everything in the middle belonging to the Czechs so far.

  7. Croatia struggling to find spark

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

Croatia showing a moment ago a brief glimpse of a response after earning a corner, but it comes to nothing.

Meanwhile, the game returns to being played almost exclusively in the Croatian half. We got the impression Croatia never really got going at Wembley. There's not much evidence of them rousing themselves here so far.

  8. Post update

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

    Dion Dublin

Former England striker on BBC One

Croatia have to do something today. All the world class players, Perisic, Modric, they've got all the quality in the world but they've got to show it today. They need the points on the board.

  9. CLOSE!

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

    Tomas Soucek heads over

We may only be two minutes in, but it's all Czech Republic.

A period of constant pressure on the Croatia box leads to Vladimir Coufal having a pop from the edge of the box, only for Domagoj Vida to get a leg to it.

Moments later, a header from Tomas Soucek drops just over. Some start.

  10. Always a critic, Chris...

    Croatia 0-0 Czech Republic

    Chris Sutton

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Czech Republic's singing was awful! No Eurovision win for them, I think Croatia would beat them there.

It's the football that counts though.

  11. KICK-OFF

And we are off and running in Glasgow!

  12. Post update

    Croatia v Czech Republic

And a fine reception for Croatia's anthem, too. Hampden not quite as busy as the 9000-odd crowd from Monday, but still a good atmosphere.

A pocket of Croatian fans are away to the corner flag in the north west corner, the Czechs in the north east corner. Fair few Scotland strips to be seen, as well as a man wearing a Pokemon hat. Well played, sir.

  13. Post update

Here come the anthems. The Czechs go first...

  14. How will it go?

    Croatia v Czech Republic (17:00)

The teams are emerging from the tunnel, the fans are on their feet and the DJ has mercifully gone for a break. How's this one going to pan out, folks?

Thumbs up For Croatia, thumbs down for the Czech Republic, and, well, say nothing for a draw...

  15. Previous meetings

Croatia v Czech Republic (17:00 BST)

The countries have only faced each other three times in the past, the last occasion coming in a fiery 2-2 draw at Euro 2016.

The match was halted in the 86th minute when flares from the Croatia end rained down on the pitch in Saint-Etienne.

Ivan Perisic and Ivan Rakitic had given Croatia a 2-0 lead, but the Czechs hit back through Milan Skoda's header before Tomas Necid smashed in a penalty for handball in the 93rd minute.

fan trouble in previous meeting in 2016

Prior to that game at the last Euros, both meetings came in friendlies. Croatia won 4-2 in 2011, while in 1996 the sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Will we be getting goals today?

  16. Post update

Very much a Eurovision vibe about the DJ's tunes now. At least there's no chance of the UK getting no points.

  17. Post update

A small army of volunteers in turquoise tracksuits take to the pristine Hampden pitch for the opening ceremony, which seems to consist of stretching a series of large banners across the place.

    Fair enough.

  18. 'Point will put Czechs in really good position'

Croatia v Czech Republic (17:00 BST)

    Petr Cech

    Former Czech Republic goalkeeper

It's the start they all wished for. If you look at the group obviously Croatia and England are the two favourites. It was clear that Scotland v Czech Republic was huge if both sides wanted to qualify.

Today if they get another point with the way the tournament is going they will be in a really good position.

  19. Will Croatia leave feeling Schick?

Croatia v Czech Republic (17:00 BST)

There's nothing like conceding a goal from the halfway line to bring you crashing back down to earth with a bump.

That's exactly what happened here back on Monday when Patrik Schick followed up his first-half header with a truly astonishing strike over the head of a floundering David Marshall.

"I saw him [off his line]," said the Bayer Leverkusen forward of Marshall. "I checked in the first half when this situation would come. I was checking where he was standing."

Former Scotland winger Neil McCann: "I'm sitting here as a Scotsman and I'm gutted, but you have to applaud that class, skill and execution. He's shaped it outside the post, and brought it back underneath the crossbar beyond David Marshall. That's as good a goal as I've seen for a long time."

Former Scotland captain Darren Fletcher: "That's an unbelievable execution from a top-class striker."

Former Scotland international Pat Nevin: "Marshall finds himself a long, long way out of goal. It's a brilliant finish by Schick, but if you are that far out as the keeper, you better be able to get back in. The question has to be asked why he's so far out of goal, because Scotland don't use their goalkeeper as an extra defender."
